Using SketchUp models in Tekla Structures

YouTube video:

In this video, we look at two ways to work with SketchUp models in Tekla Structures and where you can find them:

  • The 3D SketchUp warehouse with free content for your use
  • Importing as items and the differences in solids vs non-solids
  • Importing as reference models and ideas for how these can be used for collaboration

Why are you not putting the models in the easy way?! I put SketchUp Models in via the reference model pane via add model. This is much easier. Surely you should be teaching people the easiest way?

Hi Tom,

Thank you for the feedback. Also importing as reference models is covered in the video, starting at 03:04. Please note that reference models won't get a piece mark (i.e. position number), which is why you may want to bring in a SketchUp model as an item by importing it into the Shape Catalog.

Best regards,
