Common options and settings in Tekla Structures

In this video we take a quick look at some of the most common settings you may want to make when starting a project. Watch to see a review of several options including: Standard bolt diameter and grade when components are set to "Default" Dual-Dimensioning in Imperial and Metric - often needed for government contracts in the US Standard units - commonly used for more accurate gauge material modeling

New feature: Rebar shape placing tool

Tekla Structures 2017i introduces a new tool for creating rebar sets. With Rebar shape placing tool you can reinforce both parts and pour objects using predefined bar shapes. The rebar sets you create may extend across single or multiple objects. You can easily select cross sections or object faces that you want to reinforce, and then, using preview and direct modification, place rebar sets in the model.

Point clouds from 3D scanning

You can now insert point clouds into Tekla Structures 2018.  In construction, the point clouds are mainly used in renovation projects to define the building or structure that is to be renovated. They can also be used to get the exact position of existing machinery, pipework or landscape that needs to be taken into consideration on the site. You can also use them for checking execution by importing them as build points into a model to be compared to the design.

Property pane for model objects

In Tekla Structures 2018 most model objects now have a property pane in the modeling mode. The new property pane replaces the previously used model object properties dialog boxes. The new property pane has several benefits compared to the previously used property dialog boxes:

Rebar shape placing tool

In this video, we create rebar sets using the Rebar shape placing tooltool that is used for creating rebar sets using predefined reinforcing bar shapesRebar shape placing tool for rebar sets is similar to reinforcing bar shape catalog for reinforcing bar groups.. We will use the following predefined rebar shapes: straight, U-shape, L-shape, and stirrup.

Add material back to cuts

This video shows a featurepart of Tekla Structures functionality that is maintained and owned by Trimble Solutions and that is included in the Tekla Structures installation that many Tekla modelers, especially on the steel side, are not aware of. If you need to modify the shape of a cut, you don't always need to accomplish it with one command or object, instead you can actually cut the cut to restore material to your steel objects.

Applications & components catalog - Published attributes

Learn how to create your own published attributes, so that components can be applied much quicker in the model with your saved settingsmaster drawing where the drawing settings are saved in a drawing property file and used when creating a new drawing of a specific drawing type, instead of having to individually load and apply different settings each time.

Create custom profiles using DWG files

You can import custom cross sections and add them as DWG profiles to the profile catalogcatalog that displays profiles and information on the profilesIn addition to the available profiles in the respective Tekla Structures environment, the user can add fixed or parametric user-defined profiles to the profile catalog. It is also possible to import profiles to the profile catalog.. This video shows you:
