Import from Bocad to Tekla Structures

Question:In which format I can import a bocad model to Tekla Structures? Answer:SDNF is the format to use when importing from bocad to Tekla Structures. Depending on the bocad package, a SDNF import / export link may be available. Basically bocad has SDNF support just as an add-on. Previously, there were some problems with SDNF files, because their export of SDNF was corrupted. The newer version of bocad (20) contains proper SDNF files, but version 19 or earlier causes problems. These problems can be solved with a separate Tekla tool, Tekla Structures Doctor SDNF, which can be obtained from

Neighboring parts look different in 14.0 drawings than in previous version

Question:Neighboring parts are no longer transparent as they were in version 13.0 and 13.1 drawings. To show the steel behind a neighboring partpart that is close to a part that the drawing is made for but that is not in the same assembly or cast unitThe representation of neighbor parts is usually different from that of the part. Neighbor parts can be used as reference in dimensioning. I now have to alter the hidden lines properties to show the steel behind. Is this intentional or is it a bug?Answer:The value of the advanced option XS_CONSIDER_NEIGHBOUR_PARTS_IN_HIDDEN was changed in the

Scale in reference model is wrong

Question:When trying to add a DXF file from HiCAD as a reference modelmodel which the designer can use as an aid when building another modelA reference model is created in Tekla Structures or in other software and can be inserted to Tekla Structures. The reference model appears together with the model but it is not modified by Tekla Structures. The user can snap to reference model points. For example, an architectural model, a plant design model, or a heating, ventilating, and air-conditioning (HVAC) model can be a reference model. to a Tekla Structures model, the scale of reference objects

Exporting drawing with hyperlinks

Question:Is it possible to export hyperlinks from the Tekla drawing environment to different file types?Answer:Exporting to DWG format is not possible at the moment. But printing to PDF format is possible depending on the properties of the PDF printer. You need some additional software to have the PDF printer first. We have tested for example Adobe PDF converter and PDF-XChange 3.0, and both of them can create hyperlinks to PDF.

Standard Parts Model

Create a Standard Part Model It is relatively easy to set up a Standard Parts Model. Create a model and give it any name (Such as StdParts), and make certain to insert this name into your ini file environment by setting the line set XS_STD_PART_MODEL=X:\Serverornetworkpath\StdParts\ The path after the equals sign can be any place on your computer or network, such as a central server everyone can reference. Open this model and create some simple framing conditions required to create all of your standard parts.  Apply the connections using your standard partsteel part that current model parts

Re-scaling when printing

Question:Is there a way to overwrite the line scaling featurepart of Tekla Structures functionality that is maintained and owned by Trimble Solutions and that is included in the Tekla Structures installation when printing an A1 drawing to A3 or A4 size? The line weights are too thin and faint after the size reduction.Answer:There is an advanced option, XS_BASE_LINE_WIDTH which can be used for scaling all line weights. You can set the variable before printing the drawing what you want to scale from A1 to A3 and then set it back. Restarting TS is not needed.Another option is to define printer

Slow Tekla Structures start up

Question:Tekla Structures starts very slowly. How can I make it faster?Answer:You could try the following things to help your Tekla Structures to speed up more:1. Replace the server hostname with IP address in tekla.lic and in TS Connect to License Server dialog. This helps if you happen to have delay in your name services.2. Check that there is a free TCP/IP port defined in the end of the first row of tekla.lic. Check that the port is also defined in the Connect to License Server dialog and/or in user.ini/.bat. This way we can close out the delays that may be caused by the port searching
