How to model Rebar for elliptical or oval shaped members.

There are several methods to model reinforcement for unusual geometies like elliptical/ circular members. Generally we can use multiple pick points to model Rebar along the elliptical edge. For verticals, we can use tools like Rebar Polar Array (from Tekla Warehouse) or manual rebar modeling method with Tapered curved bar group settings. Below video contains some example (done in Tekla Structures 2017). Model (Indian Environment) attached for reference. Getting started with multiuser

To get started with Multi-User you need to have the Multi-User server, you can install it in any user machine but preferably to be installed on the company server machine. You can find the installation package at Tekla Download: https://download.tekla.com/  After successfully installing the Multi-User server, you should be able to see the server as a service, see below (Control Panel=>Administrative Tools=>Services) Now you will be able to run Tekla Structures in Multi-User modemode in which several users can work on the same model using their own working models. Cold rolled steel systems within Tekla Structures models

Working in conjunction with the largest cold rolled steel manufacturers in the UK we have created tools to allow Tekla Structures models to utilise each of their cold rolled systems. These tools are designed to work with each specific manufacturer's rules, helping to ensure the model meets the requirements of the specific manufacturer. Intelligent joints/macros allow rapid modelling and updating of cold rolled accessories, following as close as possible the system limitations. Most manufacturers have a File Transfer that allows you to check the validity of the cold rolled items before

Working with reference models in Tekla Model Sharing

One Tekla Model Sharing user can insert the reference model to the Tekla Structures model. The reference model is then copied as such without any processing to the datastorage/ref subfolder in the model folder. So even if the original reference file is deleted from the original location, there is always a copy of the reference file in the datastorage. When the user writes out the model, the datastorage/ref contents is shared to the cloud. Another user can then see the reference model when they read in and click the new reference model visible in the reference models side pane. There has been

Why can I not import STEP files?

Question Why can I not import STEP files? Answer Some older Tekla Structures versions (21.0-2016i) require Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable to be installed in order to import a STEP file (.stp). If you have installed one of these versions of Tekla Structures and find that STEP files cannot be imported, check that the Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable package has been installed (please ensure that the x86 package (vcredist_x86.exe) is installed, as the STEP import is dependent on this). You can check which redistributable packages are installed via Programs and Features.    If

Tekla Structures 2017i Hardware Recommendations

Recommendations for Tekla Structures workstations Tekla Structures hardware recommendations are based on the set-ups that have been used in testing Tekla Structures and proven to be compatible with Tekla Structures. In addition to the set-ups presented in this document, there are many other suitable set-ups available. You can use this document as a guideline in choosing new hardware, but bear in mind that the equipment and labels presented in this document are not the only suitable hardware set-up. The main criterion when choosing hardware is reliable performance. If you are considering a

How to use custom anchor rods inside 1047

Users can use custom anchor rods inside the system component, U.S. Base plate (1047). There are four custom anchor rods available in both the US Imperial and US Metric environments. Component 1047 controls the base plate, holes, grout and cast plate (not shown).  First, you need to open up one of the custom anchor rods. Make the desired changes to the custom component. Save your changes accordingly. Then close this dialog box. Again, the base plate thickness is controlled inside component 1047 (see image below in blue box), so you need to make sure you also enter this thickness in the

How to prep the bottom of a column inside 1047

When you need to prep the bottom of a column, you can do this using a custom component inside the system component, U.S. Base plate (1047). First, you need to open up the Weld Prep Beam custom component available in both the US Imperial and US Metric environments.  Make the desired changes to this custom component. Save your changes accordingly. Then close this dialog box. Then inside component 1047, go to the Parameters tab and do the following; Set the Component field to the Weld Prep Beam custom component you just modified. How to create a corner base plate using 1047

When you need a corner (L-shaped) base plate in your model, you can do this using the system component, U.S. Base plate (1047). In this example, we need to offset the base plate to the right and down. The right bottom corner will be cut. All of this can be down using 1047. Open up component 1047 and go to the Bolts tab. Adjust the offset values accordingly as shown here. Measure the offset distances in the model to determine what the offset values need to be.  You may need to "play" around with these values to get the base plate offset correctly. Use negative values if the plate moves in

Model Sharing Numbering Advice

Introduction When you have more than one person working on the same model at the same time, it is important to define a clear numbering plan that everybody on the project can follow. This article offers some suggestions on how numbering can be managed when using model sharing. Please note that the way of working suggested below is only one of many possibilities and may not suit all organisations. One of the big advantages of model sharing, is that it enables different people to work on the same model at the same time, regardless of their location and without the need of a network connection

How to clear or reset the Recently used items in the Applications & components?

Question: How to clear or reset the Recently used items in the Applications & components? Answer: This information is stored in the <user>_ComponentCatalogUserSettings.xml file in the model folder. The users can either delete or edit this file. This file also contains the expanded state of the groups so that will also be reset if the file is deleted. Modify or delete this file only when Tekla Structures is not running. It is advised to make a backup copy of the file before deleting of modifying it. Why does my version of Tekla Structures not show the Metl-Con Components?

If you are having trouble locating the Metl-Con components on your Tekla Structures 2016i version or above, it may be that a model from an older version of Tekla Structures (anything from version 2016 and earlier), has been brought forward and modeled on within Tekla Structures version 2016 or above. Once the model is opened in the newer version and the model is saved, there will be an incompatibility issue. The attached Metl-con file will be required in order to resolve the issue. This is because Metl-Con and Kingspan Ireland have now merged as Kingspan on version 2016i and later, please
