How to set a license server address without using the Tekla Structures user interface

You can easily define or change the license server address of host computers in the Tekla Structures user interface. Design coordination with Autodesk Revit will require two different Base points in Tekla Structures: one for export and one for import. Export from Tekla Structures to Autodesk Revit When an IFC file is linked into Revit, the files are placed at Revit Origin point (Revit model 0), not according to the base point. How to prevent someone from borrowing a license

Question: We have some licenses we need to prevent from being borrowed by certain users. How can we do that? Solution: You can define an allowed group in tekla.opt file located by default in C:\TeklaStructures\License\Server\. NB! There is one special thing you need to remember: If you want to borrow a license which has been assigned to a user or a user group with keyword INCLUDE, you need to add a dummy user called "ACTIVATED LICENSE(S)" into the group of allowed users. Please make sure the dummy user is the last one in the GROUP list. If you don't add the dummy user to the GROUP the license

Warning: Numbers greater than maximum number found

This message is quite harmless. Max number is the highest number used in numbering series. This information is saved to .db2 database. There are following situations where you might get this warning: manually assigned numbers exceed the max number db2 file is missing or not up-to-date Example If you have three different columns in series C/1, they will get numbers C/1, C/2 and C/3. If there are no other parts in the series, the max number is 3. If you now manually assign position number C/4 for any of the parts and then run a numbering, you will get this "Numbers greater than maximum number

How to make sketched profiles available in new models?

Question: If I want some sketched profiles to be a part of a firm setup. How do I add them so they appear every time I start a new model? If I copy just the profdb.bin to firm folder I don't see my sketched profiles. Answer: There are two ways to get sketched profiles to new models. Make a model template When you have the model where all the needed sketches are already included in the profile catalog, you can create a model template of your model. How to borrow a license using command lines?

Question: How to borrow a license using command lines? Solution: Normally this is not needed but for troubleshooting purposes license borrowing can be done using command lines just like license activation. Start command prompt (cmd) and go to C:\TeklaStructures\License\Borrow. The utility we need to use is called appactutil.exe. The following example will borrow a Full license for version 2016 through the port 27007 from a server server_name until 11-Jan-2017: appactutil.exe -served -commServer 27007@server_name -productID NAME=Full;VERSION=2016 -expiration 11-Jan-2017 The application will

What if server seems to be busy during license activation process

Problem: During license activation the Tekla License Administration Tool shows "Server seems to be busy. Processing may take awhile, please wait." However, the activation process gets stuck here no matter how long you wait.  Workaround: Activate the licenses using command lines (cmd). This way the activation should go through completely.
