How to call custom component parameter value from component to excel?

To get the custom component parameters in report (.xls or .csv), you can use the Row Type as COMPONENT as shown in below image and call the parameter directly for example to call parameter P1, we can use GetValue("P1"). This will work if the component type is Connection. If the custom component type is PART, we can use the tool Auto Connection rule report from Tekla Warehouse and generate the report. Why does my version of Tekla Structures not show the Metl-Con Components?

If you are having trouble locating the Metl-Con components on your Tekla Structures 2016i version or above, it may be that a model from an older version of Tekla Structures (anything from version 2016 and earlier), has been brought forward and modeled on within Tekla Structures version 2016 or above. Once the model is opened in the newer version and the model is saved, there will be an incompatibility issue. The attached Metl-con file will be required in order to resolve the issue. This is because Metl-Con and Kingspan Ireland have now merged as Kingspan on version 2016i and later, please

How to Create a New Role

Introduction When you launch Tekla Structures you are prompted to select a role folder. A role folder contains files and folders such as drawing templates, reports and settings, which are related to the type of work being carried out in Tekla Structures. For example, the Steel Detailer role will not contain a reinforcement bar report, but the Precast Detailer role will. A role folder can be used by a company to manage their custom files and settings and control which are available to their Tekla Structures users. A sub contract draughtsperson will often carry out work for a number of

A dialog box does not appear to be opening?

Sometimes a dialog box may appear to not open on your screen. This can sometimes be caused by the dialog box opening off screen. i.e. you were previously using the software on a multiple monitor setup. If nothing appears to be happening when you run a command, where you know a dialog box should open such as the Master Drawing Catalog or the Rebar shape manager, it may be because it is opening off screen. The following article explains how you can recover a window that is opening off screen. How to move an open window with the keyboard? If you want to display the warning message that pops up

How can you find the coordinates at a particular point in the model?

Note that from version 2018 you can inquire the coordinates at a point using Inquire Point coordinates, which you can find when you click the down arrow next to  on the ribbon. Sometimes you may want to quickly find out the coordinates of an object or part of an object. An easy way to quickly inquire about the coordinates at a particular location is to use the Add points on plane command, which can be found on the Edit tab.   Activate this command then click somewhere in the model and the coordinates at the selected position will be displayed in the Point Array dialog. You can click Cancel

What is Tsep File Dispatcher Launcher?

Q: What is Tsep File Dispatcher Launcher? What does it do? Why is it installed as part of Tekla Structures? A:  Tsep File Dispatcher Launcher associates .tsep (tekla structures extension package) file type to Tekla Structures. When this little software is installed, Windows has the needed tools and it knows what to do when user double clicks a .tsep file. When user double clicks a .tsep file C:\Program Files\Tekla File Dispatcher\TsepFileDispatcherLauncher.exe is launched. It is an application which scans through registry to check the latest installed Tekla Structures version. It will then

How to get a borrowed license into use

Q: The user has borrowed a license and is currently working from the home office. He has also a VPN connection on. For some reason, he is consuming one "extra" license from company servers. His borrowed license is not used. A: The user should start Tekla Structures before connecting to VPN. As Tekla Structures is looking for a license from the previous location by default, it will find the license from the company servers and ignore the borrowed license, and that is why he is consuming two licenses. After Tekla Structures has started, the user can start his VPN connection. For more

Can I import a NWD file to Tekla Structures?

Question: Can I import a .nwd format file to Tekla Structures? Answer: Unfortunately, you cannot import NWD files to Tekla Structures.  When it comes to interoperability between Naviswork and Tekla Structures, files tend to be exported from Tekla Structures to Naviswork. The available formats are IFC, CIS/2, DWG, DXF and IGES. You can find more information about Autodesk Navisworks online.

Unable to run numbering or create drawing in shared model.

If we join the shared model in different environment other than the actual environment in which the model was created, then we cannot run numbering or generate detailed drawings because the catalogs (material / profile / reinforcement) will list the libraries from the actual environment in which the model was created and shared. In such case we need to close the model without 'Writing Out' or saving and re-open it with correct environment.  Before opening the shared model we can check the environment that the model belongs to under shared model list, as shown below.  Further when we try to

Multi-user server name change in all model

Question: When changing the server name of the multi-user server, is there an easy way to update all models to the new server without having to open each model and specify server name? Answer:  When you have a multiuser model, Tekla Structures creates a file in the model folder called .This_is_multiuser_model. If you open this file in a text editor, it contains the following information:                          tcpip:<servername>,<serverport>                          <multiuser server database directory>                           This is a multiuser model
