Tekla Structures 2018 Hardware Recommendations

Recommendations for Tekla Structures workstations Tekla Structures hardware recommendations are based on the set-ups that have been used in testing Tekla Structures and proven to be compatible with Tekla Structures. In addition to the set-ups presented in this document, there are many other suitable set-ups available. You can use this document as a guideline in choosing new hardware, but bear in mind that the equipment and labels presented in this document are not the only suitable hardware set-up. The main criterion when choosing hardware is reliable performance. If you are considering a

Using Organizer property categories for controlling precast production

Question:  How can I utilise the property categories more effectively for controlling production in my precast factory?   Answer: Property categories can be found in the Organizertool that is used for categorizing and managing model information, object properties and object property queries, and model object classificationOrganizer consists of two tools, object browser and categories., Manage > Organizer. This tool can be used to categorise elements for production within your model and apply attributes to them which are defined by the user. These can be for production status, delivery

Model Sharing Error: Failed to write out model changes

Problem: Write out fails with a Model Sharing error message: Failed to write out model changes. Reason: Failed to create the data. Modelsharing.log file contains an error: "ERROR: System.IO.IOException: Data error (cyclic redundancy check)." Solution: Cyclic redundancy check error could indicate that the disk is corrupt or damaged. If you encounter this during write out it could mean that the bad spot may be in the file (model) itself. To try to fix this you should run Error checking on your drive: 1. In Windows 7 file explorer: Right click the drive you want to check and then click

Cannot export to IFC outside model folder

We have noticed a serious issue regarding IFCfile format commonly used in BIM that facilitates software interoperabilityIFC is an open specification developed by the IAI (International Alliance for Interoperability).Model can be exported into an IFC file. export in some Tekla Structures versions. It is not possible to export to IFC outside the model folderfolder that is used for storing files associated with a modelTekla Structures stores all files associated with a model in a folder it creates with the same name as the model database (.db1).In multi-user mode all users access the same model

Troubleshooting Hole Reservation Manager

Question: Why are almost all fields empty in my Hole Reservation Manager table? Answer: Functioning of Hole Reservation Manager is based on common agreements* set for BIM software developers. If the imported IFC model is not produced by the rules defined in the agreements, Hole Reservation Manager will not be able to interpret the file correctly. This leads in data fields left empty even though the model itself looks fine. To find out whether the IFC file is valid for Hole Reservation Manager, select a singular object in the reference model and click Inquire. The attributes from which

Object browser has encountered fatal error and must be closed

Problem: When you try to open the Organizer the following error message regarding Object Browser is shown in stead. System.ArgumentException: Byte array for GUID must be exactly 16 bytes long. Cause: There are many types of fatal errors the Object Browser can encounter with different details. The System.ArgumentException can occur for example when you have a model on a network drive and the connection is broken during writing. The ProjOrg0000xx.db file is then corrupted. Resolution: Take a backup of the ProjOrg0000xx.db into use. The backup file is saved to the same folder where Organizer

Technical Document: Integration between Tekla Structural Designer and Tekla Structures

These notes cover the integration process when integrating models between Tekla Structural Designer and Tekla Structures. When considering the integration of Tekla Structural Designer and Tekla Structures it is important to understand that the information transferred is essentially the physical information associated with the structure - e.g. geometry, section sizes and grade, number of studs and slab thicknesses etc. Tekla Structures allows engineers to quickly and easily create accurate structural models complete with information that offer value from design to construction completion.

Creating a custom step as an ITEM and then wrap it up as a custom seam to use in stair components

Question - If I create a custom tread or find a tread in the Sketchup warehouse, how do I add it to the Stair component? Steps: 1. Inside the model, add two (2) channels parallel to each other to represent stair stringers.  Make the length longer than the tread.   Make the space between them the width of the stair.   2. Add your custom tread between the channels going from right to left. Here, I went out to Sketchup Warehouse and found a grating tread.   Note: When downloading parts from the Sketchup Warehouse, you need to check to make sure the solid has no voids and everything is close

How to get Node to Node length even on a sloping part in a drawing

Question - I need to show Node to Node length in my BOM, is this possible?  Answer - You can show Node to Node length by adding a value field in the template editor using the formula below sqrt((pow(GetValue("MAINPART.END_X")- GetValue("MAINPART.START_X"),2))+(pow(GetValue("MAINPART.END_Y")- GetValue("MAINPART.START_Y"),2))+(pow(GetValue("MAINPART.END_Z")- GetValue("MAINPART.START_Z"),2)))

Opening autosaved model fails in Tekla Structures 2017 or newer if model was created in Tekla Structures 2016i or earlier

When you create a model with Tekla Structures 2016i or earlier, and open it in Tekla Structures 2017 or newer, continue working until autosave is created, close the model without saving, open the autosaved model in Tekla Structures 2017 or newer, and then save it, the next time you try to open the model, the model opening fails. There is an error message displayed Error in opening model. Model could not be opened. Check whether TeklaStructures.log contains the error message "Table read operation failed with error code -125". If it does, the error is probably caused by opening a static ID
