Using Scandinavian letters in firm folder names

Question:I have a firm-Folder in Danish and it contains the Danish letters ( Æ Ø Å). Could that cause problems, if other users have different language version of Windows? Answer:We do not recommend using Scandinavian letters. It may work well when you work on a limited language area, for example in English, German, Swedish, Danish, etc. but then not in Russian, Korean, and Chinese etc. Windows.TS versions: all

Using the weld preparation command

Question:How does the weld preparationcut that is made on the part edge in order to enable a more complete weld penetration which provides a stronger joint command works? Answer:1. First you need to create a cutting partbuilding object that creates a part-shaped hollow to the location where you want the weld preparation. For example a profile PL20*20, rotated 45 degrees. See weld_prep_1.png.2. Click Detailing > Weld > Prepare Part for Welding3. Select the part to be weld-prepared (gray beam).4. Select the cutting part (green part).5. The results you can see in the weld_prep_2.png. The

CURRENT_DRAWING versus DRAWING

Question:What is the difference between DRAWING and CURRENT_DRAWING folders in an assembly row in Template Editortool in Tekla Structures that is used for creating and modifying templates to be used in drawings and reports?Answer:CURRENT_DRAWING refers to the drawing which is currently open. The data is collected only from this drawing. DRAWING refers to all drawings in the list. This means that into ASSEMBLY row you can call in data either from the current drawing or from other assembly drawings (with different sheet number) / single part drawings of this assembly in question.

Unlocking locked reference models

Question:I have a reference modelmodel which the designer can use as an aid when building another modelA reference model is created in Tekla Structures or in other software and can be inserted to Tekla Structures. The reference model appears together with the model but it is not modified by Tekla Structures. The user can snap to reference model points. For example, an architectural model, a plant design model, or a heating, ventilating, and air-conditioning (HVAC) model can be a reference model. that is hidden and locked, but I cannot unlock it. How to unlock it? Answer:If the number of

Repairing model deletes grid

Question:Why does Repair Model deletes my gridmodeling aid that represents a three-dimensional complex of intersecting grid planes or intersecting grid planes and curved grid surfacesThe grid is defined by coordinates in 3D space. It is shown two-dimensionally on the view plane by dash-and-dot lines. A grid can be rectangular or radial. It is possible to have more than one grid in a model. For example, a large-scale grid for the entire structure, and smaller grids for some detailed sections. It is also possible to show grids and grid line labels in drawings, and to modify how they are shown in

Line forced to horizontal in sketch editor

Question:Why I cannot make my line skew in the Sketch editortool that is used for creating and editing parametric user-defined profiles? If I try to enter a line with numeric location 2000, -20 it is forced to horizontal, but if I enter the location 2000,-100 it remains skew. Answer:There is internal picking tolerance, which is relative to line length (0.05*line length). So if you have a 2000 units long line, 0.05 of that is exactly 100.  But I the basic idea of the sketch editor is not to pick exact shape at first place. Instead you create a shape that looks like the profile you want to

Intelligent page break in reports

Question:Is it possible to have an intelligent page break in reports? For example, in an assembly part list I want to avoid the situation where the page break appears in the middle of the assembly (see page_break_assembly.png). Instead, the system would add a page break only if the whole assembly does not fit at the end of the page.Answer:Unfortunately the Template Editortool in Tekla Structures that is used for creating and modifying templates to be used in drawings and reports does not currently support such an intelligent page break. Adding page break in reports

Question:Is it possible to define a page break in the report templatetemplate that is used for creating a report and how? I want to have a page break in the assembly part list after each assembly, so that each assembly and the parts included in the assembly would be displayed on their own page.Answer:Yes, it is possible to add page breaks into reports. In Template Editortool in Tekla Structures that is used for creating and modifying templates to be used in drawings and reports, select the row after which you want to have the page break and select the page break in the advanced row

Missing Adinit File in Symbol Editor

Question:How can I fix the following problem: A message “Missing adinit.dat file” appears when trying to import a DWG file into Symbol Editortool in Tekla Structures that is used for creating and modifying symbols to be used in drawings, reports, and templatesThe symbols are saved in symbol files. in Tekla Structures 14.1.Answer: This problem will be fixed in the next service release of the 14.1 version. As a workaround solution you can copy the adinit.dat file from the dwgviewer folder to the bin folder.

XS_DIMENSION_DIRECTION_REVERSED

Question:The XS_DIMENSION_DIRECTION_REVERSED variable was included in TS13.1 but was removed from 14.0. Why and has it been replaced by another variable?Answer:It was removed because it is now available as an option Reversed direction for running dimensions in the Dimensioning dialog box. The option is available for assembly and single-part drawings. The option is available from versions 13.1 SR 1, 13.1.2 and 14.0 onwards. Defining the option in the ini file does not have any effect.
