Question:

I can’t connect to our license server when I’m using Microsoft DirectAccess. First, there seems to be no problem in the connection to the server machine. Second, I have this problem only when I’m using DirectAccess. What is the reason to this problem and what can I do to fix it?

Answer:

The connection is probably using IPv4, when it needs to be using IPv6. You can configure the licensing system to use IPv6 for hostname resolution by setting the environmental variable FNP_IP_PRIORITY=6 in Windows.

To do this:

1. Search for “environment variable” and select Edit the system environment variables.

2. Select Environment Variables… in System properties.

3. Select New under User variables and set the Variable name to “FNP_IP_PRIORITY” and Variable value to “6”.

4. Close the dialog boxes by clicking OK.

More detailed information about this setting can be found in the manual fnp_LicAdmin.pdf which is by default located in the TS License Server installation folder.
