This is a troubleshooting guide for situations when NC file is not created. Usually in these cases you get following message to status bar: "NC file(s) has not been written."

First you could check what is the message in dstv_nc.log file which is created to model folder.

If the message is "NC Settings not passed", then you should check in the NC File Settings dialog box that the part will pass the selection criteria:

  • Maximum size: Length, Width and Height must be bigger than your part dimensions
  • Profile type must match the part
  • Maximum size of holes: plate thickness and hole dimeter must be larger than in your part

Are the files created into correct folder? Check the path name for NC file output: File location.

Is the part curved member? NC file is not created for curved members. The dstv_nc.log file contains the following error: "DSTV file not created for curved beam, ERROR: Part creation failed"

Is there something wrong in part marks and numbering, for example same prefix used for assemblies and parts?

Is the part mark case-sensitive? Tekla Structures is able to differentiate part marks p1 and P1, but when created as nc1 files to a folder, Windows considers them as same file and is not creating the other file into same folder.
