Reusing old GA drawing numbers

Question:I have made some GA drawings from 1 to 10 and then deleted drawings G.4 and G.6.  If I make a new GA drawingdrawing that is created from one or more model views and that shows information needed to understand the general arrangement of structural elements on a projectGeneral arrangement drawings show how parts, assemblies, cast units, or pour objects are located in a building., Tekla Structures uses the number G.11. How I can use the old numbers G.6 and G.4? Answer:If you are working in single-user modemode in which only one user can work on a model you can use this workaround:

No AK block in NC file of bent plate

Question:I have a bent plate(1) part that is created from contour plates, or beams whose profile is a plate(1) Bent plates can include conical or cylindrical sections.(1) Curved beams, spiral beams, or deformed parts cannot be used for creating a bent plate.(2) component object that represents an angle that is bent from a plate and that connects parts, and when I create an NC filefile that contains information gathered from a model and exported to computer numerical controlled fabrication machineryTekla Structures produces NC files in several formats, for example, DSTV., the AK-block is

Muddy yellow color in drawings

Question:When trying to fill an object within a drawing with yellow color, why is the result a muddy green/brown color, not real yellow? This also prints out as this color instead of real yellow.Answer:The color presentation has been like that for yellow since white background became possible in drawings (Tekla Structures 10.0). It is hard to see the real yellow if you have a white background. This is why the muddy yellow is used on white background. But if you set the drawing background color to black (XS_BLACK_DRAWING_BACKGROUND=TRUE), the yellow lines will be displayed as real yellow.

Report for components/embeds

Question:Some embeds are created as COMPONENTS and not as CONNECTIONS. This is shown when you inquire them. Is there any way to create report that will list the names and quantities of different embeds? I would like to have, for example, JPL 200*30  30pcs. I cannot select them as a connection and cannot report them as a connection. How to deal with such components?Answer:All standard embeds have classpart property that groups parts according to identifiers given by the userThe identifiers of classes are usually numbers. Classes can be used for defining the color of parts in the model, for

Work area too big - model disappears

Question:My work areacertain portion of the model that is currently active for working on in a viewTekla Structures indicates the work area using dashed lines. Since objects outside the work area exist but are not visible the user can set a certain sized work area so that the views of the model are simpler and quickly updated, for example. in the model is too big. I have run the Find distant objects but the system is not able to detect any distant objects. Still, whenever I run the Fit work area to entire model, my model disappears from the view as the work area is too big. Answer:There seem

Neighbor parts

Question:What is a “Neighbor part” in Tekla Structures?Answer:In Tekla Structures the term “neighbor part” refers to (optionally shown) parts that are close to the main and secondary part(1) part that exists in a building object and that is connected to the main part(1) Secondary part can be an assembly secondary part or a cast unit secondary part.(2) input part that the user selects after selecting the component main part when creating a component(2) A component can have none, one or more component secondary parts. that are depicted in a drawing. Cannot save or create drawings

Question:One of our users cannot save or create drawings in our server, but gets an error message: “Saving failed for file…”  The same error message is also shown when this user tries to create a new model. Other users do not have such problems.Answer:The user should disable the virus protection from the model folderfolder that is used for storing files associated with a modelTekla Structures stores all files associated with a model in a folder it creates with the same name as the model database (.db1).In multi-user mode all users access the same model folder..

Russian fonts exported incorrectly in DWG/DXF drawings

Question:I am using Russian profiles that are named using Russian characters. I have set the Windows language to Russian and the language for non-Unicode programs to Russian. In Tekla Structures the Russian fonts are shown correctly in drawings, but when I export the drawings into DWG/DXF the fonts are incorrect. How can I achieve the correct result in DWG/DXF? > Answer:You need to set your export options to support the Russian character set. You can do this in Tekla Structures > File> Options > Advanced Optionssettings used to customize Tekla Structures for specific companies,

Selection filter for empty date field

Question:I have set some date user-defined attributes to certain parts but not to all parts. Now I need to filter the parts that do not have the date field set. How can I do this?Answer:Unfortunately, our filtering system does not yet support the type "date - is set" or "date - is not set" data. But there is a workaround: Object representationrepresentation of a model object or an object group in a model view that is based on the color and transparency settings applied to the model object or the object group. You can create an object representationthe way that the information included in a

Centre of gravity on assembly local coordinates

Question:In assembly drawings, is it possible to show/calculate center of gravity coordinates on an assembly’s local coordinates rather than on global coordinates?Answer:Calculate an assembly’s local COG coordinate values from the start point of the main part(1) part that exists in a building object and that determines the position number for the assembly or cast unit and the direction of assembly or cast unit drawings(1) Main part can be an assembly main part or a cast unit main part.(2) input part that the user selects first when creating a component(2) Connections and details always have

Hiding purple associativity symbols in drawings

Question:Is it possible to hide the purple associativitydrawing property that represents the linking of drawing objects to model objects so that the former are updated according to changes made to the latter in the modeling modeIn Tekla Structures, associativity only relates to one type of drawing objects, namely associative objects. These can be building objects and associative annotation objects. In Tekla Structures, the term associativity has traditionally been used when referring to the linking of drawing objects to model objects. In other modeling contexts, however, the term

Picture for user-defined fixed profiles

Question:Can I add pictures to the Profile catalogcatalog that displays profiles and information on the profilesIn addition to the available profiles in the respective Tekla Structures environment, the user can add fixed or parametric user-defined profiles to the profile catalog. It is also possible to import profiles to the profile catalog. for user-defined shapes? The help file says this is possible for a sketched cross sectiongeometrical form of a part sectioned perpendicular to its axis, but no mention is made of user-defined profiles. .more files

Question:When I save standard files of dialog boxes, files with extension *.more are also created. What are these *.more files?Answer:The name of the User-defined attributes button was originally (in Xsteel 5.2.1) “More”, and that name is still used as a file name. So the *.more files contain the values of user-defined attributes

Web not cut entirely in system components

Question:When I use some system components with rat holes, the web is not cut entirely, but a slice of 0.4mm remains uncut. Why? Answer:This is a hard-coded value set to prevent solid errors. If the cut would locate exactly on the same level as the flange surface, there would be a risk of solid errors in the model.

Quotes in shortcut target

Question:I have noticed that in the Target field for Tekla Structures shortcut, there are quotation marks around the path to the TeklaStructures.exe file. Are they really needed? Answer:The quotation marks are there to avoid possible problems if the path contains spaces. If you have installed Tekla Structures to a path that does not contain spaces e.g. C:\TeklaStructures\ there will be no problems even if you remove the quotations marks. If you have installed Tekla Structures to a path that contains spaces e.g. C:\Program Files\Tekla Structures\ the quotation marks are needed.

Cannot find center point for chamfer

Question:What does the error message: "Cannot find center point for chamfer" mean?Answer:This error message means that at least one chamfer has illegal parameters. This happens when the chamfer type is either Rounding or Arc point, and the center of the curvature cannot be calculated. This may occur, for example, because three points are on the same line and the middle point is chamfered. The error message is shown during numberingprocess of assigning position numbers to parts, cast units, assemblies, or reinforcementIn Tekla Structures, the position numbers assigned in the numbering are
