There are some special CNC machines that support STP/STEP files for parts cutting/profiling. The best method for exporting the STP files is through the Multi Converter Extension, you can find it here.
For more information about the export, see Export to IFC, STEP, IGES, OBJ ,STL, DGN, DWG, DXF, and SKP with the Multi Converter.
Few points to keep in mind when exporting the files:

  • Ensure that the part/shape is closed. An open shape could cause some errors, for example, if a part is cut in the middle might become two segments.
  • If you are facing problems in reading the STP file at the machine software then try manipulating the cuts which are made to the parts, e.g.. change polygon cuts into part cuts.
  • Ensure that the cuts are done properly to avoid wasted material, e.g.. don't flush the cut with the part edges and always extend the cuts beyond the part edges
  • If facing problems, try to give a rotation angle to the pipe
  • You can also try to increase the diameter of the pipe cut by 1mm
  • Always check the part with a STP viewer to insure it is generated correctly. Here is an example of a viewer: Steel-Projects CAD Viewer
