How do I borrow a Tekla Structures license from the server?

Answer

In the following article the borrower’s computer refers to the computer that wants to borrow the license. Server refers to the computer where the license will or has been activated.

To borrow a License

1. Install the Tekla Structures License Server and activate all licenses on the server.
2. Run the Tekla Structures License Administration Tool on the Server and click Export to create a Product ID file (.tpi). Send this file to the borrower’s computer.
3. Install the Tekla Structures License Borrow Tool on the borrower's computer.
4. Run the Tekla Structures License Borrow Tool and enter the port number and host name (computer name) of the license server in the format 27007@server_hostname.

5. Open the .tpi file created in step 2. A list of available licenses will appear.

6. To borrow a license, click in the Borrow Until cell of the license you want to borrow and Select an expiry date. Then click the Borrow button. If successfully borrowed, the borrowed license will appear in the borrowed licenses list.

To Return a License

1. To return a borrowed license, connect to the server, select the license from the borrowed licenses list and click Return. The license should vacate the Borrowed licenses list if the return is successful.
