Handrail Total Length in Bill of Material

Question:

Which drawing properties do I use if I want railings with only the total material in BOM?

Answer:

1. Go to the File menu > Project properties > User-defined attributes
2. On the user defined attributes dialog box click the More Drawing Switches.
3. Change the option for Show Total Length for Rails in BOM to Yes.
4. Click Modify at the bottom.

5. Click the Drawing & Report tab in the ribbon, and select Drawing properties > Assembly Drawings
6. Load the Preset for Handrail_with_BOM.

Note: This setting loads the Layout called AssemblyDrawings with the Table layout called: HR_Assembly24x36. In order to find more information on drawing layouts and table layouts click here.

7. Click OK at the bottom of the drawing properties dialog box.
8. Select the Handrail in the model.
9. Go to Create Drawing > Assembly Drawing.
10. Open the Handrail drawing and review the Bill of Material.

Note: The Bill of Material is going to total any Profile types that are RO, M, L, or RU. For more info on the different profile types, see this page.
