Changing the color of a PDF Reference File

PDF Reference files are often imported in a color that does not contrast well with the model's background color, thus making the reference file difficult to see. While you can Change the Color Settings of the model's background for better contrast, the color of the PDF reference file can also be changed by following these steps:

Add an Object Group

- Then, change the properties as shown in the image below:

NOTE: Changing the Value field to Reference object as shown above will affect all reference objects in the model. If you want to change the color of just one of many reference objects, a different set of property rules needs to be used. Click here for more information. |
- Add a unique name to these settings and click Save as, then Save.
- Click Close.

Add an Object Representation Group
- Click Add row in the Object Representation dialog box.
- Under the Object group column, choose the setting that was saved under a unique name. Then, choose a color and set the degree of Transparency as you want it.
- Highlight the new group and click the Move up button.
NOTE: These rules are placed in hierarchical order and therefore their location on the list is important. The "All" rule needs to be placed last, because it tells Tekla to color all objects, besides the ones added on the list, using Color by class. If a rule has been added and there is no effect after hitting Modify, try moving it up until it takes effect. |
- Click Apply, add a unique name to these settings and click Save as and Save. Then, click Modify.
