This article applies to Tekla Structures versions 2019i or older.

Tekla Structures 2020 or newer versions no longer grey out the numbering fields if the numbering is defined on the assembly level.  The assembly level numbering settings overrides the part settings and you can use the same process as described below to define the assembly numbering on the part level.

Question:
Assembly prefix and start number are greyed out in part properties and I cannot modify them. How can I modify them?

Answer:
Somebody might have modified assembly prefix and start number on assembly level. To be able to modify the prefix and start number again on part level, do the following:

  1. Select the Select assemblies selection switch.
  2. Open the assembly or cast unit properties.
  3. Clear Assembly numbering Prefix and Start number fields so that they are empty.
  4. Click Modify.

Now the assembly prefix and start number boxes are available in part properties.

Other possible reasons are:

  • Your configuration does not allow modifying numbering properties.
  • Your access to modify part numbering is limited in privileges.inp.

The same applies for cast units as well.
