1. Purpose and description

This connection is used commonly between staircase precast concrete wall elements. The structural idea is that the whole stair case works as like a big mast column to stiffen the building.

The connection recognizes the anchor bolt and wall shoe custom components that can be downloaded from Peikko or Anstar web pages. The Peikko and Anstar anchor bolt components contain the nuts and washers used e.g. with column shoes. When using anchor bolts with the wall shoe components, a special eccentric thick washer (or bolt plate) is used. This connection creates the bolt plate and the nut into model and they are usually put into lower element cast unit to be displayed in the embed list on the cast unit drawing of the element.
For clarity in the drawings, it is recommended to create special bolt components that do not include the nuts and washers, and use them with this connection. However, the component names should include substrings like “AHP30” or “HPM30P” so that Wall Shoe Connection recognizes the bolt dimensions.

2. Using Wall Panel Shoe Connection

The connection can be created from Component catalog. The connection name is “Wall Panel Shoe Connection”.

After starting the connection:

  1. Select the main part of the lower wall element cast unit.
  2. Select the main part of the upper wall element cast unit
  3. Pick start point on the top face of the lower element
  4. Pick end point on the top face of the lower element

3.1. Picture

The connection usually contains two wall shoe components per element. Using the picture option menu you can select, if you define the locations from start towards end or symmetrically from start and end point towards center of the element. Below the picture option menu there is a dimension from start point to the first anchor bolt / wall shoe location and a distance list to be used, when many wall shoe components are needed.
PropertyDescription
Number of component copiesIf zero, component creates only one wall shoe component in the start, or in symmetrical case one component on both sides. By increasing this number, the connection contains more wall shoe components.
Bolt Component NameThe Custom component name that is created for the anchor bolt
Bolt Component Attribute FileThe saved attributes for the bolt component. Default is “standard”.
Wall Shoe Component NameThe Custom component name that is created for the wall shoe
Wall Shoe Component Attribute FileThe saved attributes for the wall shoe component. Default is “standard”.
Nut And Bolt Plate Into Wall Cast UnitSet Yes, if the bolt plates and nuts should be attached to the element in the precast concrete factor. Set No, if the bolt plates and nuts are shipped to the construction site separately.
Create Wall Shoe Cut AsThe part cuts make the solids more complicated nad models heavier. Your model will be slightly lighter if you create the cuts as parts representing the cuts.
Select Cut Side

This option is used to select on which side of the wall the wall shoe face opens.

3.2. U-Bars

On the top of the tab page you can set the basic attributes for the reinforcing bars with shape of a letter “U”.

Around the picture, you can set the cover distances.

PropertyDescription
Minimum Distance To Fill With U-BarsIf there are wall shoes very close to each other or very close to the edge of the wall, the creation of the U-bar might not be reasonable. Using this option you can choose the limit of U-bar creation.
Create U-barsIf you are not fully detailing the elements, you might not want to create the U-bars at all.

3.3. Parts

Here you can set the attributes for the nut and bolt plate parts that the connection creates.

3.4. Wall Shoe / Anchor Bolt

For Anstar and Peikko all the dimensions for wall shoe and anchor bolt custom components are hard coded into the connection. Connection recognizes the custom component based on the name such as ASL, AHP, PPM or PSK and so on.

If connection is used with wall shoes and anchor bolts that are not manufactured by Anstar or Peikko you must set the fields shown in this tab page. Select "Other" from drop down menu for manufacturer and set all dimensions. The connection will use these dimensions to create components and parts correctly.

The wall shoe and anchor bolt components must be set on the picture tab page in any event.

4. Additional information

For technical details, see the brochures on web pages http://www.peikko.com/ or http://www.anstar.fi/.

The connection works between Tekla Structures Concrete Panel parts.
