This tool is intended to be used to help build custom components and not as a stand alone tool

Using the StudTool


To use the extension:

  1. Select the StudTool from the cataloguser interface for displaying or modifying information in categorized lists

    For example, profile catalog and shape catalog are catalogs.

    (Under Plugins)
  2. Select the bottom track
  3. Select the top track/tracks (up to 2 top tracks)

StudTool settings

Main Tab

Property Description
  Option to specify the internal stud profile (applies to all internal studs)
   Option to specify the internal stud profiles using a list of profiles (seperated by a space)
   Option to specify the first stud profile
   Option to specify the last stud profile
   Option to specify the distance to the first stud
   Option to specify the internal stud spacing
   Option to specify the internal stud spacing using a list (seperated by a space)
   Option to specify a dimension to the last stud
   Option to rotate the stud direction

End Connection Tab

Property Description
   Option to specify the top connection and connection attributes for the first stud
   Option to specify the top connection and connection attributes for the internal studs
   Option to specify the top connection and connection attributes for the last stud
   Option to specify the bottom connection and connection attributes for the first stud
   Option to specify the bottom connection and connection attributes for the internal studs
   Option to specify the bottom connection and connection attributes for the laststud
   Option to specify a "standard" suffix for a conenction to be automatically applied for rotated studs (in the case of none symetrical top tracks the stud would need a different connection if the stud is rotated - Con1 or Con1A for example)
   Option to specify a gap between the top track and top of stud if no connection is applied
   Option to specify a gap between the bottom track and bottom of stud if no connection is applied
   Option to specify a weld to create an assembly if no conenction is applied

Studbolt element that represents a metal rod or pin that is used to transfer loads

Studs and other bolt elements are listed in the bolt catalog.

A stud can be secured with two or more nuts and have threading at both ends, or it can be welded to steel parts, for example.

A stud is part of the bolt assembly.

Detail Tab

Property Description
   Option to specify a custom detail name to be applied to the studs
   Option to specify a custom detail attribute file to be applied to the studs
   Option to specify the distance from the bottom of the stud to the detail
   Option to specify the spacing of the details
   Option to specify the angle of the detail
   Option to specify the type of detail (end, intermediate, intermediate reversed)
   Option to specify an allowable clash distance before the stud is removed

Insulation Tab

Property Description
   Option to specfiy the insulation height
   Option to specify the insulation width, if set to"0" the insulation is not created
   Option to specify where the insulation will stop

Bracing Tab

Property Description
   Option to create or not create the bracing
   Option to specify the rotation of the bracing
   Option to specify the bracing spacing
   Option to specify the distance to the bracing from the bottom track
   Option to specify the bracing profile
   Option to specify the end clearance of the bracing

Attribute Tab

Property Description
   Options to specify the general attributes for the studs, insulation and bracing
   Option to specify the minimum length of stud above/below any opening
