Start End Symbols macros

Create Start End Symbols

This macrosaved series of actions that includes instructions for a program

Macros are located in the applications and components catalog. They are recorded or created manually and stored as .cs file in a folder defined with the advanced option XS_MACRO_DIRECTORY.

Macros can, for example, be used for creating drawings or reports.

Macros are sometimes used to run an application.

will add a symbol to the start end of designated assemblies in an open drawing.

How to Control What Gets a Symbol

To designate which assemblies in a drawing get a symbol, you can edit the StartEnd_Names.txt file located in the macros/drawing directory. Below is what the default file looks like. Simply add the name of the assembly into this file before you run the macro. For example, if you have a beam in your model named RAFTER, you will want to add this name to this file exactly as you have it in the model.

Delete Start End Symbols

Notice in the drawing below that Black symbols were added to the start end of the beams (by the Create Start End Symbols macro). These symbols can easily be deleted from the drawing using this macro when they are no longer needed.

Starting in v21.1, the above Macros are available in all US Environment Roles

  • Cast In Place

  • Engineering

  • Precast Detailing

  • Steel Detailing

When I use this macro, it will only offset the symbols for the beams in the X direction. The beams that are running North-South get a symbol but it is at the end of the beam so it is covering the column, not like what is shown here. Can anyone tell me how to get the symbols to offset for the North-South beams?

You can do a Move>linear of the symbol. Which version of Tekla?
