Purpose and description

Use Plates from built up section application to create a copy of a part I, rectangular, L, U/C, T, WQ profiles or welded box profiles - beam (column), which has been already detailed, into plates. This application can also be used for tapered and polybeam parts.

Installing Plates from built up section

To install the Plates from built up section application:

  1. Download the Plates from built up section installer package from Tekla Warehouse. For more information see Downloading an application from Tekla Warehouse.
  2. Install the file package.

Using Plates from built up section

To use the application:

  1. Create a column/beam.

  1. Make the desired modifications

  1. Click the Applications & components button

    in the side pane to open the Applications & components catalog.
  2. Search for  Plates from built up section

    and then double-click to open it.
  3. Make desired modification and click the OK button.

  1. Select the part (column/beam).

  1. Pick the position.

When you pick the position, the three plates are automatically created.

Note: The application will not color the plates - this is only to difference them in the example.
Plates will be created in the same orientation as the selected beam, with the input point equivalent to the start point of the beam.

      Field Description Default
      Plate prefix Define the plates prefix. pl
      Plate dimension order Define the plate dimension order.
      The options are:
      • Width * thickness
      • Thickness * width
      Width * thickness
    2. Assembly

      Field Description Default
      Assembly mark prefix Define the assembly mark prefix. PL
      Assembly start number Define the assembly start number. 1
      Weld Define whether or not to weld the resulting plates.
      The options are:
      • Yes
      • No
      Yes
      Weld attributes Define the weld attribute.
      The option list is populated with the weld attributes saved in the current model.

      Part mark Define whether or not the part mark should be mapped.

Field Description Default
Main part Define which part will become the main part of the assembly after conversion.   -
Profile type This column shows the supported profile types.
They are:
  • I profile
  • Rectangular profile
  • L profile
  • U/C profile
  • T profile
  • Box girder
    This field is not editable.
    Plate  This column shows the default name of the resulting plates. This field is not editable.
    Name Define the name of resulting plates. same as default name of the resulting plates 
    Part mark prefix Define the part mark prefix. pl
    Part start number Define the part start number. 1
