PEB Anti-sag roof and wall allows you to create anti-sag members for either roof or wall purlins.

How to locate

The installers are available at Pre-Engineered Building Tools for Tekla Structures version 21.0 and above.
After the installation the icon shown below is available in the Applications & Components.

Usage

Input for this extension can be:

1. Select purlins or select purlin component, press the middle mouse button to finish selection.
If the input is a purlin component (purlins are part of a component), then inputs 2 and 3 are mandatory. If the input is purlins (two or multiple purlins in the same plane in a bay), then inputs 2 and 3 are optional. Use the Yes / No options to define this.

2. Select the first reference member (reference member can be a component or a beam part).

3. Select the second reference member (reference member can be a component or a beam part).

Note:
In case of purlin component input, the anti-sag arrangement bay is defined by reference members, and the length of the bay is calculated from the first reference member part/component center line to the second reference member part/component center line.

In case of individual purlin input, the anti-sag arrangement bay is defined by first purlin start and end, and the length of the span is calculated from the first purlin start to end points.

PEB Anti-sag roof and wall is created with default values.

PEB Anti-sag roof and wall dialog box

Parallel arrangement

Different sag rod spacings can be achieved using the following options. Spacing references are based on the input selection. If input selection includes refererence members, the references are based on them, otherwise references are the start and end of the first selected purlin.
OptionDescription
Image
PEB Anti Sag - Roof and Wall _Sag Rod_Parallel_Arrangement_Option1.png
Equally distributes the given number of anti-sag rods in between the references
Image
PEB Anti Sag - Roof and Wall _Sag Rod_Parallel_Arrangement_Option2.png
Allows you to enter a distance list for defining parallel spacing
Image
PEB Anti Sag - Roof and Wall _Sag Rod_Parallel_Arrangement_Option3.png
Allows you to keep a constant distance between anti-sag members. The remaining distance (which is lower than the provided distance) adjusts at both ends.

Thread options

OptionDescription
Image

Allows you to define a plain rod
Image
PEB Anti Sag - Roof and Wall _Sag Rod_Thread_Options_2.png

Allows you to define a fully threaded rod. In this case an assembly attribute (SAGROD_THREAD) is updated with value as Full.

Image
PEB Anti Sag - Roof and Wall _Sag Rod_Thread_Options_3.png
Allows you to define a plain rod threaded at the end. In this case an assembly attribute (SAGROD_THREAD) is updated with thread length value.

Anti-sag Profile

Connection can be applied at the ends of antisag member when 'Other profile' option is selected in Anti-sag profile field. For this, user need to select an appropriate connection from Applications & Components and  then select an appropriate attribute file. Select required profile from the parts tab. Rod profile also can have component connections at end by using this option.

Rod arrangement

These options enable you to define s rod arranging pattern.
OptionDescription

RodArrangement_1.png
Vertical hole pair: Bottom hole to top hole

RodArrangement_2.png
Vertical hole pair: Top hole to bottom hole
Image
RodArrangement_3.png
Vertical hole pair:Top to top, bottom to bottom
Image
RodArrangement_4.png
Vertical hole pair: Bottom to bottom, top to top

Horizontal hole pair: First hole to first, second to second
Image
RodArrangement_6.png
Horizontal hole pair: Second hole to second, first to first

Vertical hole pair distances from top/ bottom

These are enabled only when the hole pairs are vertical (only for 1 to 4 in the above options). Hole locations from both purlin edges can be defined here.

Hole type

This option is for hole creation type. The options are:
  1. Bolt hole
  2. Part cut
  3. Both (bolt hole and part cut)
  4. No hole (no holes created in this case)
Slotted (Hole)
Using this option  user may create slotted holes. Slotted hole X and slotted hole Y are to control x and y dimensions. Slot rotation also possible with Odd, Even, Parallel options.

Hole tolerence

Hole tolerence can be adjusted here.

Empty hole in hole pair

OptionDescription
Image
Other_Hole_No.png
Creates only required holes.
Image
Other_Hole_Yes.png
Creates hole pairs. This is helpful for first and last purlins.

Horizontal hole pairs

These are enabled only when the hole pairs are horizontal (only for 5th and 6th in the rod arrangement pattern options).

Option Description
Image
RodArrangement_Horizontal_1.png
Hole spacings are referenced to the first hole of the pair.
Image
RodArrangement_Horizontal_2.png
Hole spacings are referenced to the middle of the distance between two holes in the pair.

Hole pair pitch

Distance between two hole pairs.

Part lengths

Sag rod main part (rod) length can be defined by providing end offset from the part center of purlins, or providing one offset and total rod length. Thickness for washer, nut and lock nut can also be defined from here.

Parts

All part properties (profile, prefix, start no, material, name, finish, class, note ) can be modified here.

Position options (On plane, Rotation, At depth) are provided (this get activate when the anti-sag profile in picture tab is 'other profile') to control profile position .

Accessories & assembly

You can control the creation of the parts using the Yes/ No options. Adding the parts in to the assembly can also be controlled using the Yes/No option. If both sides are similar, Same as start option saves time. If both sides are not the same use the Different option to alter the values on other side.

Assembly name, assembly prefix and assembly start number also can be defined here.

Tips

How to make multiple bay anti-sag members if the same purlin component is applicable for multiple bays?

- Select the purlin component, select the reference members for that particular bay. Anti-sag rods will be created for that particular bay. Repeat this for other bays in the same way.

How to skip some purlins in the purlin component from making a sag rod?

-Select the parts and repeat applying the extension for each set of purlins.
