PEB Anti-sag apex

PEB Anti-sag apex allows you to create anti-sag members for apex (ridge) purlins of a PEB building.

How to locate

The installers are available at Pre-Engineered Building Tools for Tekla Structures version 21.0 and above.
After the installation the icon shown below is available in the Applications & Components.
 

Usage

Input for this extension can be:

1. Select the first purlin or purlin component.
If the input is a purlin component (purlins are part of a component), then inputs 3 and 4 are mandatory and the apex purlin is automatically selected by the plug-incomponent that is developed using Tekla Open API

Plug-in is a .dll file and loaded inside Tekla Structures process.

Plug-ins can be started from the applications and components catalog.

. If the input is a purlin, then input 3 is optional. This can be determined using the Yes / No options. PEB Anti-sag apex is created with the default values.

2. Select the second purlin or purlin component.
If the input is a purlin component (purlins are part of a component), then inputs 3 and 4 are mandatory and the apex purlin is automatically selected by the plug-in. If the input is a purlin, then input 3 is optional. This can be determined using the Yes / No options.

3. Select the first reference member (reference member can be a component or a beam part).

4. Select the second reference member (reference member can be a component or a beam part).

Note:
In case of purlin component input, the anti-sag arrangement bay is defined by reference members, and the length of the bay is calculated from the first reference member part/component center line to the second reference member part/component center line.

In case of individual purlin input, the anti-sag arrangement bay is defined by the first purlin start and end, and the length of the span is calculated from the first purlin start to end points.

PEB Anti-sag apex is created with default values.

Parallel arrangement

Different sag rod spacings can be defined using the following options. Spacing references are based on the input selection. If input selection includes refererence members, the references are based on them, otherwise the references are the start and end of first selected purlin.

Option Description
Allows you to equally distribute the number of anti-sag rods in between the references
Allows you to provide a distance list for defining parallel spacing
Allows you to keep a constant distance between anti-sag members. The remaing distance (which is lower than the provided distance) adjusts at both ends.

Shape options

Allows you to select the required shape based on the condition.

Option Description
Straight rod. This can be used for smaller slopes.
Rod bended at both ends. It can be used for higher slopes. The bend position can be controlled by offset from start and end.
Rod with single bend. It can be used for unequal slops. Rod bend will be at middle by default. To change the bend position, enter the offset from a single side and keep the other offset box blank.

Thread options

Option Description
Allows you to define a plain rod.
Allows you to define a fully threaded rod. In this case an assembly attribute (SAGROD_THREAD) is updated with value as Full.
Allows you to define a plain rod threaded at the end. In this case an assembly attribute (SAGROD_THREAD) is updated with thread length value.

Anti-sag Profile

Connection can be applied at the ends of antisag member when 'Other profile' option is selected in Anti-sag profile field. For this, user need to select an appropriate connection from Applications & Components and then select an  appropriate attribute file. Select required profile from the parts tab. Rod profile also can have component connections at end by using this option.

Parameters

 

Rod arrangement

These options enable you to define a rod arranging pattern.

Option Description
Vertial hole pairs
Horizontal hole pairs

Vertical holesmall hollow open throughout a part or assembly that is usually used for fastening parts with bolts or other such objects

Hole is created in the same way as bolts and hole properties are defined in the bolt properties.

pair distances from top/ bottom

These are enabled only when the hole pairs are vertical (only for option1 in the above options). Hole locations from both purlin edges can be defined here.

Hole type

This option is for hole creation type. The options are:

  1. Bolt hole
  2. Part cutcut that is defined by a cutting part

  3. Both (bolt hole and part cut)
  4. No hole (no holes created in this case)

Slotted (Hole)
Using this option user may create slotted holes. Slotted hole X and slotted hole Y are to control x and y dimensions. Slot rotation also possible with Odd, Even, Parallel options.

Switch hole

Sag rod members can be switched using the Yes or no options.

Horizontal hole pairs

These are enabled only when the hole pairs are horizontal (second option in rod arrangement pattern options).

Option Description
Hole spacings are referenced to the first hole of the pair.
Hole spacings are referenced to the middle of the distance between two holes in the pair.

Hole pair pitch

Distance between two hole pairs.

Part lengths

For straight sag rod main part(1) part that exists in a building object and that determines the position number for the assembly or cast unit and the direction of assembly or cast unit drawings

(1) Main part can be an assembly main part or a cast unit main part.

(2) input part that the user selects first when creating a component

(2) Connections and details always have a component main part.

(rod), the length can be defined by providing an end offsetpart property that is used to move the ends of a part, relative to the part’s reference line

from the part center of purlins, or by providing one offset and total rod length. For other options (bended rod at both ends, bended rod at center) only end offset can be provided. Thickness for washer, nut and lockto prevent unwanted action in a model or a drawing

It is possible to lock model objects, reference models, and drawings, for example.

Parts

All part properties (profile, prefix, start no, material, name, finish, classpart property that groups parts according to identifiers given by the user

The identifiers of classes are usually numbers. Classes can be used for defining the color of parts in the model, for example. Class does not influence the numbering of model objects.

Position options (On plane, Rotation, At depth) are provided (this get activate when the anti-sag profile in picture tab is 'other profile') to control profile position.

Accessories & Assembly

You can control the creation of the parts using the Yes/ No options. Adding the parts in to the assembly can also be controlled using the Yes/No options. If the both sides are similar, the Same as start option saves time. If both sides are not the same, use the Different option to alter the values on the other side.
