Back to top To install the application:
  1. Have Tekla Structures closed during installation.
  2. Install the appropriate installation package that you can download from the Tekla Warehouse.  (Before 2016i install the .msi.  2016i and newer install the .tsep.)
  3. Reopen Tekla Structures once installation is complete.
  4. Before version 2016:  A new toolbar icon which will launch the tool should now be visible when a drawing is opened. For version 2016 a new thumbnail under Ungrouped items in the Applications and components side pane will appear.  For version 2016i and newer a new thumbnail under US Extensions items in the Applications and components side pane will appear.

How to start?

  1. Launch from Tekla Structures - Inside TS, double-click the EDHM icon/thumbnail

EDHM User Interface

The User Interface (UI) of EDHM consists with three major parts, which are:

There are three components in the Manager Window, which are:

  •   Main Menu - There are four main options listed on the Main Menu toolbar.

  • New (CTL + SHIFT + N) - Create a new archive
  1. Click;
  2. Select file to import;    
  • Open (CTL + SHIFT + O) - Open an existing archive

  • Save As - Save current archive as another

  • Remove all - Remove all links, folders and associated objects;    
  • Remove all links - Remove all links including bookmarks, hyperlinks and associated objects that are associated to a folder will remain. Folders will also remain.
  • Remove all associated objects - Remove all associated objects, folders and links will remain;    
  • Remove all links and associated objects - Remove all links including bookmarks, hyperlinks  and associated objects. Folders will remain;    
  • Refresh - Redraw the Links and Docs tree view;
  • Show associated links browser (Window) - see Main Menu > Show Link Window section

  • Highlight model objects on link selection - Automatic highlight model objects in Tekla Structures when selecting links in the Links & Docs Tree View
  • Always stay on top - Keep the Manager Window always on top;
  • Load default archive on start - Read previous (last modified) or default archive when starting the program;
  • Allow Overwriting IE Favorties on Exporting - Set to uncheck if not to overwrite previously exported IE favorties;

  • Show Link Window - An object centric view to browse associated documents and links
  • Help
    • Open help file from EDHM - Click on the help file icon to launch this help file.
  • Links and Documents Tree-view - A menu list will show up when right-clicking on a Doc & Link node from the tree view.

  • Open (CTL + O) - This will launch a dedicate application to open the link/doc. If the node is a hyperlink then EDHM will launch your default web-browser to open this link. An error message will prompt if the link is not found or invalid.
  • Cut (CTL + X) - Cut node(s) from the tree view to clipboard. Original node(s) will be removed from the tree view. All descendants of the selected node will also being cut.
  • Copy (CTL + C) - Copy node(s) from the tree view to clipboard. Original node(s) will remain. All descendants of the selected node will also being copied.
  • Paste (CTL + V) - Paste node(s) from clipboard to a destination node. If collected node(s) are from a copy operation, then all new created node(s) will obtain same property as their original ones. Each pasted node will have a new GUID. No associated objects will be copied;

  • Delete (Delete) - Delete the selected node from tree view, including all descendants. All associated object links to this doc/link will also being deleted;
  • New Folder...  - Create a new folder

  • Hyperlink (URL) - Create an empty hyperlink. The URL is left empty when created. You need to write the URL at the Property Tab.

  • Local document - Create a link to a local document.  When clicked, chose the file you want to link from your local machine.
  • Export to Firefox Bookmark - Export the selected node and its descendants to a Firefox Bookmark file.
  • Export to IE Favorties - In the Browse For Folder dialog, create or locate the destination folder to export favorties.

  • Associated Selected Objects in Model - Create associations among selected node (either a  group or link/doc) and selected model objects.  Notice, associations will also being created for all descendants from the selected node;

  • Remove all Associated Objects - Remove associations among selected node (either a group or link/doc). All associations belongs to any descendant of the selected node will also being removed.
  • Highlight all Associated Objects - Highlight all associated model objects form this selected node including associations for all its descendant.

Stop the reloading operation
  • Icon URI - User editable field where specifies the hyperlink icon source. Not all URLs have provided icons.
  • Add date - None editable field for date when link was added.
  • Last modified - None editable field of last modified date.

  • Link Window - Browsing links and documents via navigating objects. An object centric view to browse associated documents and links. Link Window provides a model object centric view to browse associated documents or links on selected object. When an model object is selected, its associated documents will show in the tree-view.

Tutorial - Import Object Type (.xml) File from Model Organizer

This is a short tutorial of importing Object Type file from Model Orgianizer into EDHM.
It is common where you like to associated same documents to similar Model Objects. The Model Organizer comes in handy to structure and group model objects in a desirable fashion. You often will like to have your documents and links being grouped in similar way where you can easily associated group of documents to model objects. However, your Model Organizer hierarchical structures could be very deep and complex.  Creating similar structure in EDHM is often cumbersome.
Hence, reading in the Object Types from Model Organizer seems applicable to ease this task.

Step-by-Step Instruction

  1. Export object types in Model Organizer

  1. In Model Organizer, right click on Object Types;
  2. From the menu, select Export/Import > Export

  2. Right click on the destination node.
  3. Select New Folder... > Object Types

Tutorial- Drag and Drop a bookmark from Web Browser to EDHM

This tutorial shows you a simple way to drag a bookmark directly from your web browser and drag it into EDHM.
You can organize your documents and links without EDHM and bring them into EDHM later.

  1. In the browser, select the Favorties pane to show existing bookmarks.

  1. Left-click and hold on the bookmark and drag to a destination node in the Tree-view of the Manager Window. Release the mouse button.
