Component Summary
Formwork panel This tool can be used to model an array of formwork panels on one side or two sides of a cast-in-place wall.

The actual formwork panels are custom parts. In addition to custom parts, some additional data of the products is needed from configuration files.

This tool has a direct modification user interface for both inserting and modifying.

To create a new array of formwork panels:
  1. Open the properties dialog box, select the proper panel and click Apply. Note that the ‘applied’ values for all accessories (ties, clamps etc.) are set with the main panel dialog box although they can be modified in their own dialog boxes.
  2. Start inserting panel arrays by moving the mouse pointer on pour objects (or concrete parts).

For more information about panels see here
For more information about how to configure panel placing see here

Forrmwork condition This tool is used to create a complete assembly of formwork products typically needed to build up the formwork in various conditions like corners, pilasters, and bulkheads.

The tool supports various corner types including ‘L’, ‘T’ and ‘X’ corners, pilasters at pour ends or at the middle of the pour, and bulkheads at pour ends.

The content of the whole assembly is predefined with help of the two or more ‘corner subassemblies’ and/or ‘panel subassemblies’ created with help of wizards.

This tool has a direct modification user interface for both inserting and modifying.

To insert a new formwork condition:
  1. Set the values to be applied for the condition in the FormworkPanel dialog box.
  2. Search for the FormworkCondition component and start moving the mouse pointer on the corner edges, pilaster edges, or ends of the pours (or parts).

For more information about conditions see here

Formwork filler This tool can be used to model filler items to fill the gaps between two formwork panels.

There are two ways to input a new filler component:
  • Insert a filler by selecting two adjacent panels, or
  • Insert a filler by selecting a single panel and a point to indicate the location (left, right, top, bottom of the panel) and the width of the filler.

To insert a new filler:
  1. Set the values to be applied for the clamps in the FormworkPanel dialog box.
  2. Click either of the buttons in the dialog box to start inserting a new filler.

For more information about how to configure filler placing see here

Formwork ties This tool is used to insert an array of ties between two formwork panels on the opposite sides of the wall.

This tool has a direct modification user interface for both inserting and modifying.

To insert new ties:
  1. Set the values to be applied for the ties in the FormworkPanel dialog box.
  2. Search for the FormworkTies component and start moving the mouse pointer on the formwork panels.
  3. You can also add ties to the selected panels from the FormworkPanel dialog box by clicking the Apply to selected button on the Ties tab.
To modify the ties, select the tie array, and:
  1. Move an individual line of ties by dragging the line handles.
  2. Insert a new line of ties by dragging and holding down the Ctrl key.
  3. Delete an individual line of ties by selecting the clamp handles and pressing the Delete key.
  4. Change the properties, spacing and/or start distances in the dialog box and click Modify.

For more information about how to configure tie placing see here

Formwork clamps This tool is used to insert an (linear) array of clamps, locks or brackets at the joining edge between two formwork panels.

This tool has a direct modification user interface for both inserting and modifying.

To insert new clamps:
  1. Set the values to be applied for the clamps in the FormworkPanel dialog box.
  2. Search for the FormworkClamps component and start moving the mouse pointer on the formwork panels.
  3. You can also add clamps to the default locations of the selected panels from the FormworkPanel dialog box by clicking the Apply to selected button on the Clamps tab.

To modify clamps, select the clamps, and:
  1. Move an individual clamp along the edge line by dragging the handles.
  2. Insert new clamps by dragging and holding down the Ctrl key.
  3. Delete individual clamps by selecting the clamp handles and pressing the Delete key.
  4. Change the properties, spacing and/or start distances in the dialog box and click Modify.

For more information about how to configure clamp placing see here

Formwork waler This tool is used to insert walers to formwork panels. Typically, a waler is used to connect two panels on top of others but it can also be placed in one single panel. The waler typically consists of the waler beam and two lock devices fixing the waler to the panel.

This tool has a direct modification user interface for both inserting and modifying.

To insert a new waler:
  1. Select the waler type from the list on the Walers tab in the Formwork placing tools - Walls dialog box.
  2. You can also enter the longitudinal offset. Leave the field empty to get the waler beam centered between the input points.
  3. Click the Insert new button on the Walers tab.
  4. Move the mouse pointer on the panel and pick one of the preset picking locations. This is the first input point and also a location for the first lock device.
  5. Move the mouse pointer on the next panel and pick one of the preset picking locations to enter the second input point. This is the end point of the waler beam and the location of the second lock device. If you did not enter the longitudinal offset value, the waler beam is centered between the two input points. Otherwise the waler beam starts at the given offset from the first input point.

To modify the waler, select the waler, and:
  1. Move the input points by dragging the point handles. By holding down the Alt key, you can drag the point anywhere, even on to a different panel.
  2. Change the longitudinal offset by dragging the round handle between the main input point handles.
  3. Insert a new waler by dragging one of the main input point handles and holding down the Ctrl key.

For more information about how to configure waler placing see here

Formwork braces This tool is used to insert supporting braces for a single formwork panel.

This tool has a direct modification user interface for inserting.

To insert new braces:
  1. Set the values to be applied for the braces in the FormworkPanel dialog box.
  2. Search for the FormworkBraces component and start moving the mouse pointer on the formwork panels.
  3. You can also add all braces to the selected panels from the FormworkPanel dialog by clicking the Apply to selected button on the Braces tab.

For more information about how to configure brace placing see here

Formwork pouring platform This tool is used to insert an array of pour platforms at the top edge of formwork panels.

This tool has a direct modification user interface for both inserting and modifying.

To insert new pouring platforms:
  1. Set the values to be applied for the pouring platform in the FormworkPanel dialog box.
  2. Search for the FormworkPlatform component and start moving the mouse pointer on the formwork panels.
  3. Pick the start and end points to create a linear array of platforms (along the top edge of the panel).
  4. You can also add platforms to the selected panels from the FormworkPanel dialog box by clicking the Apply to selected button on the Platform tab.

For more information about how to configure platform placing see here

Formwork corner sub assembly setup wizard This tool is a wizard that helps to define a corner subassembly definition. Typically, the corner subassembly contains formwork products at one side (inner or exterior) of the corner or at some corner in a pilaster.

The outcome of the wizard is stored in an external file with a name.

For more information about the corner sub assembly wizard see here
Formwork sub assembly setup wizard This tool is a wizard that helps to define a subassembly definition. Typically, the subassembly contains formwork products at the ‘back’ side of the tee corner, pilaster, or pour stop/bulkhead.

The outcome of the wizard is stored in an external file with a name.

For more information about the panel sub-assembly wizard see here

All formwork tool components are just inserting various formwork product custom parts in the model. These custom parts must exist in the Applications & components catalog when using the formwork tool components. In addition to the custom parts, you need to have the formwork tool configuration files available. Check whether the formwork supplier has made the configuration and whether the configuration is available with the components.

For the instructions on how to make the necessary configurations for your own formwork components, see the instructions here.
