Doubler Plate

This package installs two plugins one to manage location of doubler platecomponent object that represents a structure that strengthens a steel beam web or steel column web by thickening it

How to locate : -
After installation below two plugins will be available in the Applicationpart of Tekla Structures functionality that is developed in order to extend the capability of Tekla Structures but that is not included in the Tekla Structures installation

How to apply : -
Click plugincomponent that is developed using Tekla Open API

Plugin is a .dll file and loaded inside Tekla Structures process.

Plugins can be started from the applications and components catalog.

icon in the Applications & components side panel and then select the already applied connection in the model in which you want to apply doubler plate. (See supported connections list at the end of this article)

Properties : -

1. Doubler Plate for End Plate

This plugin does not create separate doubler plate but it shifts doubler plate created by original connection to column flange and creates weld between column and doubler plate. Use fittingadjustment of a part end

2. Doubler Plate for Fin Plate 

This plugin creates new doubler plate between existing shear plate and beam web and creates weld between doubler plate and secondary beam.

    Macros are located in the applications and components catalog. They are recorded or created manually and stored as .cs file in a folder defined with the advanced option XS_MACRO_DIRECTORY.

    Macros can, for example, be used for creating drawings or reports.

    Macros are sometimes used to run an application.

    Symbol created for doubler plate plugin. To modify properties of doubler plate plugin user can double click this macro symbol.
  2. Doubler plate created between existing fin plate and beam web.
  3. Thickness of Doubler plate is controlled by this attribute.
  4. Material of Doubler plate is controlled by this attribute.
  5. Part prefix for doubler plate can be given using this attribute.
  6. Name of Doubler plate can be controlled by this attribute.
  7. Weld attributes such as size and type for weld between Doubler plate and beam web can be controlled. Weld will always be shop weld.
  8. Gap between beam edge and doubler plate start edge.
  9. Gap between fin plate end edge and doubler plate end edge.
  10. Gap between Beam top and doubler plate top edge.
  11. Gap between doubler plate bottom edge and Beam bottom.

 

Note : - Skewed connections not supported.
This plugin works correctly only when Secondary Beam is perpendicular to column/Main beam.
When delete the connection, main component has to be modified once to restore the original position.
