Curved Rebars for coupler Toolbox
Purpose and description
The Curved Rebars for Coupler Toolbox will allow the user to create a straight segment on curved rebars in order to add couplers on it.
Four tools compose this toolbox.
System requirements

Installing Curved Rebars For Coupler Toolbox
To install the application:
If Tekla Structures is not running:
Download the appropriate TSEP (Tekla Structures Extension Package) file from Tekla Warehouseservice for collaboration and for storing and sharing Tekla Structures content
In Tekla Warehouse the content items are stored in collections. Tekla Warehouse includes the Tekla Warehouse Service and the Tekla Warehouse web site.
Tekla Warehouse is one of the Tekla online services.
.
Double-click on the saved .tsep file.
In the Tekla Structures extension manager, check the version(s) you want to install the extension to.
Click Import.
Start Tekla Structures.
If Tekla Structures is running:

Click the menu button in the Applications & components side pane and select Extension manager.
Click Import..
Select the .tsep file and click Open.
Restart Tekla Structures to complete installation.
Two tools will appear in the Applications & Components side pane:
- one is a plugin called CurvedRebarsForCoupler
- The other one is an application called Curved Rebar Toolbox
Using Curved Rebars For Coupler Toolbox
You will find a tutorial on Youtube:
The plugin:
- Launch the plugin;
- Set rebar properties in the user interface
- then follow instructions: pick three points for shape then two points for direction.
The application: Four tools compose the application.
- Create one rebar:
- Set rebar properties in the user interface
- then follow instructions: pick three points for shape then two points for direction.
- Create two rebars:
- Set rebar properties in the user interface
- then follow instructions: pick three points for shape then two points for direction.
- then pick the point where coupler will be placed
- Convert:
- Set the straight length and choose which end(s) in the user interface
- Pick a curved rebar groupgroup of reinforcing bars that are side by side and have identical properties, except the possible variation in bar lengths
to convert
- Split + Convert Curved Rebars
- Set the straight length in the user interface
- Pick a curved rebar group to convert
- then pick the point where coupler will be placed
An additionnal UDAobject property created by the user in order to widen the range of predefined object properties
User-defined attributes are used when the predefined object properties are not sufficient but more properties are needed. For example, comment, locked, and erection status are user-defined attributes.
, calle CVR_RADIUS is created. This value shows the radius of the curvature of the rebar modeled.
Additional information
- Limitations: coupler plugins will be deleted if CurvedRebarsForCoupler is modified after coupler creation. Couplers have to be re-created after modification of the rebars.
- Shape of the rebar created mught be recognized as Shape Code 1. This is due to the fact that angle tolerancepermissible amount by which the dimensions of a structure may vary from the work size specified
Tolerance is usually stated as a plus or minus dimension.
The term ’tolerance’ is used in its general sense in Tekla Structures.
In a model the term ’tolerance’ should not be used to refer to a gap.
in rebar shape is hard coded. This might be improved in next versions of Tekla Structures. During the meanwhile, you can add a condition on the UDA "CVR_RADIUS" in order to treat these rebars as separate shape codes.
