Purpose and description

Use Curve dimensioning component to create a dimension lineline that visualizes the distance between the defined dimension points

Separate dimensions can be combined into a longer dimension line.

Installing Curve dimensioning

To install the extension:

  1. Download the Curve dimensioning installer package from Tekla Warehouse. For more information see Downloading an application from Tekla Warehouse.
  2. Install the file package.

Using Curve Dimensioning

To use the application:

  1. Open a Tekla model.
  2. Open a Tekla drawing.
  3. Click the Applications & components button   in the side pane to open the Applications & components cataloguser interface for displaying or modifying information in categorized lists

    For example, profile catalog and shape catalog are catalogs.

  4. Search for Curve dimensioning and then double-click to open it..
  5. The Curve dimensioning dialog window will open.

  1. For creating manual radius (), manual radial () and manual diameter () follow this steps.
  1. Pick the first point.

  1. Pick the second point.

  1. Pick the third point.

  1. To create the dimension, you have two choices:
    1. Middle click to create the dimension;
    2. Pick the point where to insert the dimension and then middle click to create the dimension. The dimension will then be placed along the picked point.

  1. For creating automatic radius (), automatic radial (), automatic diameter () and automatic curved dimension () follow this steps.
  1. Pick the part.
  2. Pick a point on the curve (on the part) – must be avoid the corners, since if it’s a corner of the part it would result in a error message: Creating dimension fail.

  1. To create the dimension, you have two choices:
    1. Middle click to create the dimension;
    2. Pick the point where to insert the dimension and then middle click to create the dimension. The dimension will then be placed along the picked point.

Application properties

Field Description
Use this button to create automatic radius dimension.
Use this button to create automatic radial dimension.
Use this button to create automatic diameter dimension.
Use this button to create automatic curved dimension.
Use this button to create manual radius dimension.
Use this button to create manual radial dimension.
Use this button to create manual diameter dimension.
Dimension attributes Use the drop-down menu to select the dimension attributes.
You can define the options following these steps:
  • Open a Tekla drawing;
  • Dimensioning -> Dimension Properties -> save attribute.
