Purpose and description

Circular Break Line adds a circular type break line to a drawing when two points are picked in a drawing view. This tool is included in the Drawing Break Lines extension.

Installing Circular Break Lines

To install the application:

  1. Close Tekla Structures (if running)
  2. Download MSI Installer from Tekla Warehouse
  3. Install and run MSI Installer
  4. Start Tekla Structures
  5. Open an existing drawing
  6. Before version 2016:A new toolbar icon which will launch the tool should now be visible when a drawing is opened. 2016 version and newer: a new thumbnail under Ungrouped items in the Applications and components side pane will appear.

Using Circular Break Line

To use the plugins:
1. Set up settings in the tool to match current engineering drawing standards.

a. Select type of break line image. The first one is for a top break line and the second for a bottom break line condition. See Examples section below.
b. Arc settings – Load the Draw Arc by 3 Points icon to create your own line settings to use in the break line tool. Once an attribute file is saved away, it will show up in the break line tool.

Create break line
1. Run tool by clicking the icon/thumbnail
2. Set settings and Apply.
3. Pick point one and two within a drawing view.

Modify break line
1.   Select one of two points and move/drag to new location.

Delete marks
1.   Select object and right click – delete.

Additional information

  • Break line objects will move with the view if moved. However, if the view extrema changes the break line will not automatically adjust to the new edge of the view extrema. The user will have to move the break lines manually.
