2021 SP1: New features and improvements

In addition to fixes, Tekla Structures 2021 SP1 delivers the following useful improvements: 

The name of your organization is shown in the Tekla Structures start screen, splitting basic plates and slabs in the model is now easier, UDAobject property created by the user in order to widen the range of predefined object properties

User-defined attributes are used when the predefined object properties are not sufficient but more properties are needed. For example, comment, locked, and erection status are user-defined attributes.

: Previously, when the third zone had enough space for one rebar only, the rebar was not created. This concerned both the primary and the secondary bars. This has now been fixed. Additionally, you can now define in each zone that rebars are not created. The creation of just one rebar in each zone has been improved so that the rebar is now created in its proper position.

TSAC-4886 Concrete components

Meshreinforcement that represents a mesh of steel bars in two perpendicular directions

In Tekla Structures, the reinforcement mesh bars in one direction are called main bars and reinforcement mesh bars perpendicular to them are called crossing bars.

IFC2x3 export: The z level failed in the export in Tekla Structures 2021 if the base pointpoint in a model that is used to define a starting point in surveying and that is used as an anchor point in coordinate and height transformations

A Tekla Structures project can have several base points but only one of them can be the project base point.

Base points allow the use of another coordinate system needed for interoperability and collaboration. Base points can also be used in drawings, and in reports and templates. Model origin is the default base point in Tekla Structures.

Base points are also called control points.

A reference model is created in Tekla Structures or in other software and can be inserted to Tekla Structures. The reference model appears together with the model but it is not modified by Tekla Structures. The user can snap to reference model points.

For example, an architectural model, a plant design model, or a heating, ventilating, and air-conditioning (HVAC) model can be a reference model.

Weld marks are now cloned better when you clone(performed by Tekla Structures) to create a new drawing by using a cloning template

Cloning aims at using the drawing properties, view properties, and object properties from the cloning template in a new drawing.

Drawings can be cloned from the current model or another model.

Tekla Structures includes several predefined drawing layouts, which are drawing-type specific. The user can also create new drawing layouts.

(.lay) files whose names are longer than 63 characters are no longer available in the Layout list in drawing properties because Tekla Structures does not allow the use of layout files with names over 63 characters.

In addition to the available profiles in the respective Tekla Structures environment, the user can add fixed or parametric user-defined profiles to the profile catalog. It is also possible to import profiles to the profile catalog.

. This has now been fixed, so that sharing profile changes is more secure.

TTSD-43358 Tekla Model Sharing

Tekla Model Sharingcloud service for collaboration and for storing and sharing a model

Tekla Model Sharing is one of the Tekla Online services.

:  Previously, if an object had been manually assigned to a pour unitentity that combines together a pour object and the other building objects that need to be in place before cast-in-place concrete can be poured

The needed building objects can be reinforcement and embeds, for example.

, and the assigned object or pour objects were modified afterwards, the manual assignment was lost. This has now been fixed.

TTSD-40240 Tekla Model Sharing

Tekla Model Sharingcloud service for collaboration and for storing and sharing a model

Tekla Model Sharing is one of the Tekla Online services.

: Previously, Tekla Structures crashed if upgrading the model history databasedatabase file that collects model history on the actions in the model

failed when the model was saved. This has now been fixed, so that an error message is printed in the session log instead. Tekla Structures also now shows an error message and prevents opening the model if initializing the model history database fails.

Tekla Model Sharing is one of the Tekla Online services.

: Previously, when you wrote out or read in model changes for the first time during a session, the status bar message for successful read in or write out was not shown. This has now been fixed.

TTSD-44034 Reinforcement

The user-defined attributes of a rebar set property modifierrebar set modifier that can be used to locally change the properties of certain reinforcing bars in a rebar set

are now only transferred to the bars touched by the modifierline or polyline that can be used to locally modify reinforcing bars in a rebar set

Rebar set modifiers can be rebar set property modifiers, end detail modifiers, or splitters. Also rebar set secondary guidelines behave like rebar set modifiers.

Polyline modifiers may have corner chamfers. Each rebar set modifier only affects those rebar set reinforcing bars that its projection touches.

. Previously, all bars in the rebar set received the attributes.

TTSD-42747 Reinforcement

When creating a rebar meshreinforcement that represents a mesh of steel bars in two perpendicular directions

Previously, there were issues that prevented RPC-based components, such as Edge and corner reinforcement (62), from changing the number of bars in a rebar groupgroup of reinforcing bars that are side by side and have identical properties, except the possible variation in bar lengths

Previously, there could be an error when you opened a new model while searching in the Applications & components cataloguser interface for displaying or modifying information in categorized lists

The property pane can be customized by using the property pane editor.

TSAC-5354 Import, export, interoperability (concrete)

Export ELiPLAN file (68): With a data conversion file, accessories such as steel embeds and insulation blocks can now also be quantified with custom measurement units. Previously, they were always quantified as piecebuilding object that is a basic element of a model and that can be modeled and detailed further

The main concrete parts are: column, beam, polybeam, spiral beam, panel, slab, lofted slab, pad footing, strip footing, and item.

Export Unitechnik (79): Previously, line attributes were not correctly exported when there was a cut part former too close to the contour edge. This has now been fixed.

Export ELiPLAN file (68): Weep holes at the start and at the end of the hollow core element are now always exported aligned in one line. Cuts smaller than 100 mm at the start and at the end are ignored, otherwise the weep holes are offset respectively to the cut size.
