2020 SP4: New features and improvements

In addition to fixes, Tekla Structures 2020 SP4 delivers useful improvements: issuing and the Show selected mode now work better in Document managertool that is used for listing and managing drawings and other types of documents

With the document manager the user can, for example, reorganize, update, freeze, lock, and delete drawings.

The user can also organize file documents, such as PDF, NC, and DWG files, and drawings, in document categories, and search documents and open drawings.

Document manager is replacing drawing list from the version 2018i onwards.

, the order of drawings in the printing dialog box is more logical, drawing templates can be zoomed,  curved line accuracy is better in reference models, .tekla models now contain pours, pour units, and grids. There are also improvements in components.

Spiral beams can be concrete spiral beams or steel spiral beams. They can be used to create spiral staircases, complex architectural structures, and concrete parking ramps, for example.

Spiral beam can rise from the work plane or be flat. If the spiral beam rises, the total rise is defined between the start and the end point.

Drawing snapshots make it possible to have a quick look at any drawing without opening the drawing. Snapshots are used, for example, for finding a certain drawing edition. Snapshots can be viewed in Tekla Structures but they cannot be edited.

Previously, when inviting users to a shared modelmodel used for collaboration over the Tekla Model Sharing service

With a shared model, each user works with their own model and the changes are shared through Tekla Model Sharing. A shared model requires the use of a single-user model. The same model cannot be a shared model and a multi-user model.

creation commands did not follow the snapping depth (Plane/3D/Auto) and snapping plane type (View/Work). This raised several issues, in particular:

  • When creating construction circles by center point and radius in the plan view, the circles were created at different elevations depending on the start point.
  • When creating construction circles by three points on the plan views, the command snapped to points on objects, causing the resulting circles to be out of the plan views.

These issues have now been fixed. The construction arc and circle commands now follow the snapping depth and snapping plane type.
