125372 Core

The advanced optionssettings used to customize Tekla Structures for specific companies, standards, users, or user groups

In Tekla Structures, advanced options are settings that are used, for example, in a specific project or geographical area, or by a specific company.

In Tekla Structures, advanced options usually begin with the initials XS and are followed by the name of the function, for example XS_BACKGROUND_COLOR.

XS_FLAT_TOLERANCE and XS_FLAT_THICKNESS_TOLERANCE did not work in Tekla Structures 2016. This has now been fixed.

125302 Steel components

Stairs (S71), Wooden steps pan (S72), Polybeampart of a certain shape that is created as a continuous chain of beams passing through points that the user picks

The segments of the polybeam are straight, but segment intersections can be curved. For example, a beam that follows a zigzag line is a polybeam.

pan (S73)
and Z pan (S74) now create stairs correctly when the work planeplane that the user has chosen in a model and that is currently active for working on in a model view

Newly created, copied, or moved model objects comply with the work plane. For example, shifting the work plane to follow a sloped plane makes it easier to model sloped structures.

is changed.

124195 Task Manager

When setting sequence numbers from Task managertool that enables the linking of temporal data to a model

The task manager can be used to create, save, and manage tasks that are used to create a schedule.

116618 Core

In some rare cases, a set of options with incorrect values were written to the options.ini file in the model folderfolder that is used for storing files associated with a model

Tekla Structures stores all files associated with a model in a folder it creates with the same name as the model database (.db1).

In multi-user mode all users access the same model folder.

causing issues in subsequent model use. This has now been fixed.

116417 Drawings

Now the Full name element also shows a value for studs.

124605 Concrete components

In Hollowcore reinforcement strands (60), there are new options for strandreinforcement that represents a group of wires spun together

extensions on the Strand extension tab. You can now separately define the setting for the longest edge and the remaining edges.

117125 Reinforcement

Now you cannot detach a reinforcing bar groupgroup of reinforcing bars that are side by side and have identical properties, except the possible variation in bar lengths

from a locked object if you have not set XS_ALLOW_REINFORCING_LOCKED_PARTS to TRUE in a .ini file.

125369 Modeling

Selecting the Educational configuration when starting Tekla Structures and creating a new model caused a Tekla Model Sharingcloud service for collaboration and for storing and sharing a model

Tekla Model Sharing is one of the Tekla online services.

initialization failure and the system showed an error message (Sharing initialization failed). This has now been fixed.

125329 Import, export, interoperability

In Unitechnik export (79), you can now set the quality of the slabdate using the setting Quality of layer on the Data specification tab. The options are Material and UDAobject property created by the user in order to widen the range of predefined object properties

User-defined attributes are used when the predefined object properties are not sufficient but more properties are needed. For example, comment, locked, and erection status are user-defined attributes.

.

120245 Modeling

In some cases, pour objects and cast-in-place parts were visible in model views even when the visibility of parts or pours was set off (the Parts check box was not selected in the Display dialog box). This has now been fixed.

125977 Tekla Model Sharing

Previously, when using a custom partcomponent for creating a part that cannot be created by using any existing part command or part profile

Typically, custom parts are used to create parts that have a complex composition. For example, castellated beams and sandwich panels are often created as custom parts.

in a shared modelmodel used for collaboration over the Tekla Model Sharing service

With a shared model, each user works with their own model and the changes are shared through Tekla Model Sharing. A shared model requires the use of a single-user model. The same model cannot be a shared model and a multi-user model.

, the custom part objects were not correctly updated in the local versions of the model after read in when the custom part was updated in the original model in which it was created. This has now been fixed.

117835 Import, export, interoperability

In Unitechnik export (79), you can now select the type of SLABDATE weight using the new setting Production weight on the Data specification tab. The options are Part weight and Unit weight.

55592 Reinforcement

When you select the reinforcing barreinforcement that represents a steel bar used to reinforce a concrete structure

The steel bars are usually ribbed and they are used to increase the tensile strength of concrete.

usage, main bar/tie or stirrup, in the Select reinforcing bar dialog box, the hook properties are now updated correctly in the Reinforcing bar properties dialog box also in the case only the length value is different.

118511 Tekla Model Sharing

Previously, imported custom components with images in the properties dialog stored the images outside the model folderfolder that is used for storing files associated with a model

Tekla Structures stores all files associated with a model in a folder it creates with the same name as the model database (.db1).

In multi-user mode all users access the same model folder.

. As a result, the images were not shown in the properties dialog when copied to another model or when sharing a model, and in a multi-user modelmodel that is used for collaboration and that is opened in multi-user mode

. This has now been fixed. The images are stored in the model folder.

123629 Import, export, interoperability

You can now specify Production addition user-defined attributes for precast parts. This attribute is exported with Unitechnik export (79) to object's SLABDATE block as a representative number 00-03. The current options are Standard element, Balcony, Roof, Plastered element.

123176 Reinforcement

Rebar shape managertool that is used for customizing the bending shapes of reinforcing bars

Rebar shape manager can be used for bending shapes only and not for any other reinforcing bar properties.

has been changed so that when the XS_USE_USER_DEFINED_REBAR_LENGTH_AND_WEIGHT advanced option is set to TRUE and the shape is not specified (shape is unknown), the default cutting length along the center line is calculated and set to the length field. Earlier only the weight was given for unknown shapes.

115439 Import, export, interoperability

When a Tekla Structural Designer .cxl file is imported into Tekla Structures, the model is checked for existing items. If the model is empty, the project properties from the .cxl file will be written into the model's project properties. If the model contains members, the .cxl model data will be ignored leaving existing project properties intact.

86340 Drawings

With the new command Delete part marks you can easily delete part marks for parts that you have selected. This command comes in very handy when you do not want to show marks for neighbor parts or neighbor reinforcement, for example. You can delete all other mark types, except weld marks.
To delete marks, activate the Select parts selection switchswitch used for controlling which object types can be selected

, select the parts using a proper selection filterfilter used for defining which object types can be selected

Selection filter chooses model objects according to object properties.

Selection filters can be standard or user-defined.

For example, selection filters can be used to select parts for drawings or analysis.

, right-click and select Delete part marks.

120633 Drawings

You can now define an automatic hatch separately for precast parts and cast-in-place parts in the cast_unit.htc file. The options for Cast unit typeproperty of a concrete part in a cast unit that defines if the structure type of the part is precast or cast in place

are Precast and CIPcast unit type where the concrete is formed, poured, and cured in its final position

. To be able to do this, you need to select the appropriate cast unit type in the concrete part properties.

124458 Tools and components

Previously, when you deleted all component objects and component parameters from a custom componentcomponent that the user creates and uses for creating model objects whose composition the user can modify as a group

, adding new objects to the component and then trying to save it caused Tekla Structures to crash. This does not happen anymore.

Now if you delete all objects and parameters from a custom component, Tekla Structures shows a message that you cannot save the component. You can either select to close without saving so that the custom component will remain as it was before you deleted objects and parameters, or you can select to cancel to undo the changes until the component contains at least one of the original component objects.

114446 Import, export, interoperability

The Pop-marking options tab in the Pop-mark Settings dialog box now has a new setting Consider zero diameter holes as pop-marks that writes zero diameter bolt holes as pop-marks. If you do not select this setting, the bolt holes will be written as normal holes with diameter zero. If you select the setting Show pop-marks in the model, the pop-marks for the zero-diameter bolt holes will also be visible in the model.
In the example below, the new setting Consider zero diameter holes as pop-marks has not been selected on the left. The option has been selected on the right:

In the example below, the pop-marks of the zero-diameter holes are shown in the model:
