What is the Tekla Structures Borrow Tool for?

The borrow tool allows a license to be borrowed for a set period, after which the license automatically returns to the Tekla Structures License Server.

The advantage of the borrow tool over deactivating and reactivating the license on another computer is that there is no risk of the license being permanently lost on the borrowing computer.


To borrow a license the borrowing computer must connect to the same network as the Tekla Structures License Server, where the license is activated.

After the license has been borrowed the borrowing computer can use the license offline until the borrow period has expired, at which point the license returns to the server automatically.


The license can be returned before the expired period only by connecting the computer with the borrowed license to the server and returning the license.


You can connect through VPN to borrow or return a license.
