Tekla Structures Licensing process

Need help installing Tekla Structures? Follow the Installation Guide
  1. Activating a new licence
  2. Starting the server manually
  3. Renewing an existing licence
  4. Making changes to the licence machine

Activating a new Licence

Accessing the licensing tool

Left click Start Button > All Programs > Tekla Structures Licensing > Tekla Structures License Administration Tool

You will have been supplied with an Entitlement separately via email. The attachment on that email (licence certificate) needs copying to the folder C:\TeklaStructures\License\Server

Activate your licence

Within the Tekla Structures License Administration Tool click Open.

Open and select the entitlement certificate

Select the supplied certificate as described previously.

 Select the Entitlement Certificate

Click the Activate drop down box and select the number of licences to activate.

Select the number of licences you wish to activate

This action enables the Activate button, clicking this button will activate your licence (Internet access is required at this stage).

When complete you will see the licence successfully activated message.

Inform the server

Notify the server (locally installed with the Activation tool). The Notify Server button should have changed from RED to GREEN.
If GREEN, then close the License Administration Tool dialogue box. If RED, proceed to Starting the Server Manually.

Open Tekla Structures

You should now be able to open Tekla Structures, if the following message appears then proceed to Starting the Server Manually.

Open the licence server manager

Left click Start Button > All Programs > Tekla Structures Licensing > LMTOOLS

Within the Licence Manager Tools select the Start/Stop/Reread tab

Stop server

Tick Force Server Shutdown box and click Stop Server button. Will generate Stopping Server message.

Click Start Server button. Will generate Server Start Successful message.

Click ReRead License File button. Will generate ReRead Server License File Completed message.

Open Tekla Structures

You should now be able to open Tekla Structures, if the following message appears then proceed to Determine server name to enter.

Open the Licence Management Tools, left click Start Button > All Programs > Tekla Structures Licensing > LMTOOLS

Within the Licence Manager Tools select the Server Status tab. Click Perform Status Enquiry button. You will need your License server status code.

Enter the License server status code in the field marked Server address, click OK.

Renewing an existing licence

If you are replacing an existing licence, then the existing certificate needs to be de-activated before the renewal certificate can be activated.

Left click Start Button > All Programs > Tekla Structures Licensing > Tekla Structures License Administration Tool

Rename your previously provided licence file EntitlementCertificate-OLD.html
You will have been supplied with an Entitlement separately via email. The attachment on that email (licence certificate) needs copying to the folder C:\TeklaStructures\License\Server.

Deactivate your licence

Within the Tekla Structures License Administration Tool tick Deactivate box.

This action enables the Deactivate button, clicking this button will deactivate your licence (Internet access is required at this stage).

When complete you will see the licence successfully deactivated message.

Making changes to the licence machine

If you are replacing major parts of the machine holding the Tekla Structures licensing software, (e.g. Disk Drive, Network Card, Motherboard) then the licence must be deactivated before the change takes place. Follow instructions Deactivate your licence

If all this information is not in the beginning of Tekla Structures license administration tool, maybe it should go there? Kind of hard for new users to find the info from here.

Thank you for your comment - I agree, ideally we were including this as part of the license template, but this isn't possible at the moment, so we will be sending this information out separately to new customers
