Using spaces in selection filter names causes problems when the filters are used in other contexts, not just for plain selecting. The filter names with spaces cause problems in Master Drawing Catalog rule sets and in automatic GA dimensioning, for example.
To solve the problem, use underscores instead of spaces, for example, Steel_column instead of Steel column.
When spaces are used in filter names, the filters work just fine for selecting the objects:

But when these filters are used in Master Drawing Catalog rule sets, for example, they do not work.

When you create a drawing using this rule set, you will get an error message in the message panel:

The wizard log file shows that Tekla Structures tries to eliminate the spaces, but does not find a filter by that name:
