Question: How do I show studs in workshop or part drawings?

Answer:
In older versions go to Tools> Options> Advanced options and set XS_SHOW_STUDS_IN_WORKSHOP_DRAWINGS = TRUE or set the same option from the user.ini file if needed. In recent versions go to the File dropdown >  Settings> Advanced Options or press CTRL + E

If you want to add this advanced option to your Firm folder so that it is effective in all models:

In older versions, go to Tools>Macros and run the macro:

If you do not want to use the macro, the file location in Windows for versions 2019 onwards is C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Trimble\Tekla Structures\<version>\UserSettings and for earlier versions it is C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Tekla Structures\<version>\UserSettings. Note that in order to access this location, you need to have hidden folders visible in Windows.

  • Clicking on User Settings will open the folder where the user.ini file is located. This file can be edited in any text editor.
  • Open the file, add a new line by copy/pasting one of the existing lines, remove the word "rem" and copy/paste the advanced option XS_SHOW_STUDS_IN_WORKSHOP_DRAWINGS = TRUE

  • Close Tekla entirely (Save your model if necessary).
  • Save the changes to the user.ini text file.
  • Open Tekla Structures and the Advanced option should be set in any new or existing model.
