MODIFIED and TOUCHED attributes in the model history

Question:
In templates and reports you can retrieve the following information on the model history. 

What is the difference between these HISTORY attributes?

1. MODIFIED and TOUCHED
2. MODIFIED_BY and TOUCHED_BY
3. MODIFIED_ACTION and TOUCHED_ACTION

Answer:

  • MODIFY: The real modification time. Its value is zero if the object is not modified.
  • TOUCH:  Either the time of the creation OR the time of the last modification. Its value is never zero. For modified objects both times are the same.

The MODIFIED_BY and the TOUCHED_BY attributes report the user who has modified or touched the objects.

The actions reported by the MODIFIED_ACTIONS attribute:

  • update
  • numbering
The actions reported by the TOUCHED_ACTIONS attribute:
  • insert (creating an object)
  • update
  • numbering

Since Tekla Structures 2017 version, history is collected also in single-user models in addition to multi-user models.
