Create Steel Decking in Tekla Structures


In this article we will go over creating steel decking for a floor or roof using the "Modeling of Floor Bay (66)" Component. You can model decking by just picking the beam tool and loading a deck profile but this is a more efficient way to model decking without having to do each piece. 
 


Modeling the Deck

In the model go to Detailing > Component > Applications and Components (or press CTRL+F). In the Applications and Components dialog search for 66, please note that in the Steel Detailing role you need to "Show hidden Items" in order to see this tool. See below

Double click to open the component, now see the image below and apply the setting as the image displays.

Now Browse for a profile

The first step when applying this component is to "Pick two points to specify the first distance for the component to determine the start line for the decking".

Next "Pick two points to specify the second distance for the component to determine the end line of the decking"
