How to adjust your model views with a specific degree

This article will explain how you can easily rotate your model views to a specific degree when working with a rotated grid. Alot of times you want to work with a square view to your screen to make things easier and when the model is rotated this can be a challenge. So using one of the global macros I will show you how to rotate your model view to a certain degree.

Finding the value of rotation

In my example model my grid is slightly rotated and is throwing off my view, so to find out my rotation i use the angle tool to measure the angle.

Now that we know what the angle is we can move on to editing some files. Open a folder on your computer and navigate to this directory

C:\ProgramData\TeklaStructures\<version>\Environments\<local environment>\macros\modeling

Here you will be looking for the "Flip View 180.cs" file, once you find it open this file with "notepad".

In the file you will remove all the flip 15 degree values, shown in the first snapshot below. Then add the value we found from the model to the first line, shown in the second snapshot below.

Finally save the file but leave it open so once you flip the view you can undo the changes to the file and resave it back to normal.

Now in the model open the Applications and Components menu and find the Flip View 180. Click in the view that you want rotated and then run the tool:

Now you are done and you can go back to the CS file and undo your changes and resave the file so you still have the original flip view 180.
