CATALOG NAMES: X Brace - Beam to Beam, X Brace - Bottom

X Brace - Beam to Beam
TYPE: SEAM

This custom component allows you to quickly add HSS or Wide Flange vertical X Bracing between beams. You can also specify which component and attribute file to use at the brace intersection.

Picking order:

1.  Select upper beam
2.  Select lower beam
3.  Select the start handle of the lower beam reference line
4.  Select the end handle of the lower beam reference line

Component Options:

1.  By default the bracing workpoints are bound to the center planes of each beam, but these values can be overwritten in the dialog box.

2.  By default the profile, numbering series, material, name, finish, class, and Design Group Names are mapped to match the brace above. If all of the braces require the same settings, you only need to define them for the continuous brace. If the upper and lower braces have the same properties, but are different than the continuous brace, then you only need to define the properties for the continuous and upper brace, and the lower brace will match the properties of the upper brace.

Connections:

1.  You can specify whether or not to create a connection at the intersection of the X Bracing, and define which component and attribute file to be used, if needed.

X Brace - Bottom
TYPE: SEAM

This custom component works just like the X Brace – Beam to Beam component, except it is to be used where bracing occurs at the bottom of a column bay.

Picking order:

1.  Select beam
2.  Pick first point
3.  Pick second point
