Numbering series

Use numbering seriesset of identifiers defined by the user, based on which Tekla Structures compares parts, assemblies, cast units, or reinforcement with each other during the numbering and gives position numbers

Numbering series is defined by a prefix and a start number.

The user can, for example, allocate separate numbering series to different phases or part types.

to divide steel parts, assemblies, and cast units into groups. For example, you can allocate a separate numbering series to each phase or part type. Using separate numbering series for different parts speeds up the numberingprocess of assigning position numbers to parts, cast units, assemblies, or reinforcement

In Tekla Structures, the position numbers assigned in the numbering are shown in marks and templates, for example.

The name of a numbering series consists of a prefix and a start numberfirst number of a numbering series

. You do not always have to define a part prefix (for example, you may want to omit the part prefix for minor parts).

When you run numbering, Tekla Structures compares parts that belong to the same series with each other. All identical parts in the same numbering series are given the same part number.

Concrete parts are numbered according to the cast unit numbering settings. For example, if the cast unit prefix is C and the start number is 1, concrete parts will get the part prefix Concrete_C-1.

This applies also to concrete components whose part positionposition number that is assigned to a part

prefix is Concrete and start number is 1.

For example, if you define a numbering series with the prefix P and start number 1001, Tekla Structures numbers that series P1001, P1002, P1003, ...
