New dialog box for rebar dimension mark properties
Rebar dimension mark properties now have their own dialog box in Tekla Structures. You can save the settings you make in the Rebar dimension mark properties dialog box as *.rdim settings files. Having separate dialog boxes and settings files makes it easier to customize your rebar dimension properties, and still leave your other dimension properties unaffected.
- To open the Rebar dimension mark properties dialog box, open the drawing, go to the Drawing tab and click Properties > Rebar dimension mark.
Note that the Rebar tab in the Dimension Properties dialog box has been moved to the new Rebar dimension mark properties dialog box.

Only the settings saved in *.rdim settings files are shown in the Rebar dimension mark properties dialog box. If you have saved rebar dimension mark settings in .dim settings files, rename the file extension to .rdim.
The standard.rdim settings file is installed with the Tekla Structures Common environment.
The macros that have been designed to work with the Dimension Properties dialog box no longer work, unless you edit the macros to call the Rebar dimension mark properties dialog box.
The Filter drawing viewview that includes selected model objects or an area in the model, that is represented in a drawing
A drawing view is a container for model and drawing objects.
A drawing can include several drawing views, which usually are two-dimensional views, plane views, to the model.
Examples of drawing views in Tekla Structures include main views, section views, single-part views, and 3D views.
-level dimensioning method does not allow creating rebar dimension marks, so *.rdim settings files are not shown in the user interface of this plug-in.
On the Reinforcement dimensions tab of the view-level Dimensioning Properties dialog box, the previously specified settings file might no longer be found, if the settings file is in the *.dim format. Instead, the standard.rdim settings file is shown if the file is available in the selected environment. However, the standard.rdim will only be used if you save the view-level settings. If the view-level settings are not saved, the internal hardcoded defaults are used.
More reliable cloning
When XS_DRAWING_CLONING_IGNORE_CHECK is set to TRUE, Tekla Structures can now clone(performed by Tekla Structures) to create a new drawing by using a cloning template
Cloning aims at using the drawing properties, view properties, and object properties from the cloning template in a new drawing.
Drawings can be cloned from the current model or another model.
Cloned drawings need some manual checking.
a drawing with a selected part that has the same position numberidentifier that is assigned to all similar parts, assemblies, cast units, or reinforcement
Position number consists of a prefix, separator, and running number. The prefix is part of the position number, identifying a numbering series. The running number is part of the position number, and is the assigned number in the numbering series, based on the start number. The separator is an optional character, such as a slash, that separates the prefix and the running number.
In Tekla Structures, the position numbers assigned in the numbering are shown in marks and templates, for example.
In the US, the term piece mark or ship mark is used to refer to a position number.
. However, if you have selected several parts with the same position number, only one cloned drawing is created for that position.
New presentation options for drawing rebar pull-out pictures
The Rebar pull-out picture and marking applicationpart of Tekla Structures functionality that is developed in order to extend the capability of Tekla Structures but that is not included in the Tekla Structures installation
has a new section for Presentation options with two new features on the Rebar tab.
Exaggeration has been added to exaggerate a shape when the reinforcement bar has an overlap in the second visualization. This setting works in a way similar to the pull-out pictures in rebar marks.
Shorten bars longer than allows you to set a maximum output length for long bars. If the boundary of the shape exceeds the maximum length, the pull-out picturesmall graphic in a reinforcement mark, table, or report template that shows the shape and dimensions of a reinforcing bar
is shortened with cut lines. This setting is meant to be used with straight bars and bars with hooks.
The 3D DWG and 3D DGN v8 exports, and the Export to Revit (.rvt) Geometry extension in Tekla Warehouseservice for collaboration and for storing and sharing Tekla Structures content
In Tekla Warehouse the content items are stored in collections. Tekla Warehouse includes the Tekla Warehouse Service and the Tekla Warehouse web site.
Tekla Warehouse is one of the Tekla Online services.
, now allow you to export selected parts in an assembly when you use the Selected objects option. You need to use the Select objects in assemblies or Select objects in components switch when you select the parts. If you do not select a part but an assembly, the highest level of assembly parts will be included in the export.
Previously, all parts were exported in the assembly to which the selected parts belonged.
Tekla Model Sharing improvements
If you use a Trimble Connect folder as the project or firm folderfolder that is used for storing Tekla Structures-related files customized for a particular organization
A Tekla Structures user can, for example, customize a company’s cloning templates and save them in a sub-folder located under the firm folder. After this, the customized cloning templates can be used in all projects carried out for the company.
, you can now see the progress of the data synchronization from the project or firm folder to the local model. You can also cancel the data synchronization, if needed.
Improvements in components
Rectangular column reinforcement (83)
There are two new features on the Bar ends tab.
A new option has been added to allow the bar ends of the corner bars to be created in a 45º angle. The images of the options are updated to visualize the difference between the horizontal extension and crankingrebar set end detail that creates cranks for certain reinforcing bars in a rebar set
Cranks refer to crank-shaped bends and they can be created with rebar set end detail modifiers or rebar set splitters.
The second new featurepart of Tekla Structures functionality that is maintained and owned by Trimble Solutions and that is included in the Tekla Structures installation
helps you to output 2-dimensional bars easier. A new option, Align cranking, has been added to the Bar ends tab. When set to Yes, the cranking of the corner bars is automatically aligned to the horizontal extension direction.
Edge and corner reinforcement (62)
You can now create secondary edge bars with offset on the Edge bars tab.
Hollowcore reinforcement strands (60)
There are two improvements.
First, you can now add additional grids for strandreinforcement that represents a group of wires spun together
patterns in the .dat file. The new grids can be assigned to a strand pattern by adding the stand pattern name after the gridmodeling aid that represents a three-dimensional complex of intersecting grid planes or intersecting grid planes and curved grid surfaces
The grid is defined by coordinates in 3D space. It is shown two-dimensionally on the view plane by dash-and-dot lines. A grid can be rectangular or radial.
It is possible to have more than one grid in a model. For example, a large-scale grid for the entire structure, and smaller grids for some detailed sections.
It is also possible to show grids and grid line labels in drawings, and to modify how they are shown in the drawings.
, for example, [Profile-name]_GRID_[Strand-pattern].
Second, the Pull value boxes on the Strand pattern tab are now enabled when the distances are defined in an external file, so you can overwrite the pull of a strand. If the pull value is empty, the values in the .dat file are used.
You can now select No hole as the Hole type when using the Auto bolt component.
