Tekla Structures 20.1 Release Notes

Tekla Structures version 20.1 is an intermediate version, and contains many new features and fixes.

Compatibility

We suggest that you complete any unfinished models using your current Tekla Structures version.

Warning:

Several different versions of Tekla Structures can coexist on your computer. When you create or save a model in Tekla Structures 20.1 , you can open it in Tekla Structures 20.0, but not in older versions of Tekla Structures.

Installing

Tekla Structures setup creates a new subfolder for Tekla Structures 20.1.

You need Windows Administrator rights to install Tekla Structures 20.1.

Note:

Tekla Structures 20.1 uses .NET Framework 4.5.1, which will be installed on the computer together with Tekla Structures if it is not already installed. .NET Framework 4.5.1 can also be installed from Microsoft Download Center.

Tekla Open API Release Notes

Updating the licensing tool


Updating the licensing tool

We have taken into use a new version of licensing libraries in Tekla Structures version 20.1. Because of the change of the licensing libraries, the license server (License Administration Tool) and license borrowing software (License Borrow Tool) need to be updated. If you do not do that, you will not be able to use Tekla Structures 20.1.

  • Download the new license server software from the Tekla Structures version 20.1 downloads page in Tekla Downloads and install it on your existing license server. You do not need to deactivate the licenses first, updating the license server software is enough.
  • If you need to borrow a license for any Tekla Structures version, download the new license borrowing software from the Tekla Structures version 20.1 downloads page in Tekla Downloads and install it on your laptop. Note that you always need to use the same version of License Borrow Tool and License Administration Tool to avoid problems in borrowing.
  • If you are using an older version of Tekla Structures than version 20.1, and you need to borrow a license, you have to get the new version of the license borrowing software.

New versions of licensing tools are compatible with older versions of Tekla Structures.

New copying command

New copying command

Tekla Structures 20.1 introduces a new command that you can use to copy objects between assemblies or cast units in the model. The new command is available on the Edit menu, and on the pop-up menu when you have an assembly or a cast unit selected.

For example, you can use the new Copy Special > All Content to Another Object command when you have detailed an assembly and want to copy all details to another similar assembly.

When you use this command, you do not need to select each individual object to copy, but you just select the source assembly or cast unit, and then the target assembly or cast unit. Tekla Structures copies the following objects in the assembly or cast unit:

  • Secondary parts
  • Reinforcement, bolts, and welds
  • Cuts, fittings, and edge chamfers
  • Sub-assemblies
  • Components
Note: Tekla Structures does not copy pour breaks, or secondary parts created by a component that has also created the component main partinput part that the user selects first when creating a component

Connections and details always have a component main part.

The performance of construction circles has been improved. Even using large construction circles is now fast.

Construction circles are now shown with a continuous line in model views, not with a dashed and polygonal line as previously. Now it is also accurate to snap to construction circles, as they are true circles.

Numbering assemblies

You can now have Tekla Structures consider model welds when it compares and numbers assemblies. This means that if two otherwise identical assemblies have different welds, Tekla Structures gives the assemblies different numbers.

To do this, adjust the numberingprocess of assigning position numbers to parts, cast units, assemblies, or reinforcement

In Tekla Structures, the position numbers assigned in the numbering are shown in marks and templates, for example.

settings before you use any numbering command:

  1. Click Drawings & Reports > Numbering > Numbering Settings .
  2. In the Numbering Setup dialog box, select the Welds check box.

  3. Click OK.

Pop-marks in numbering

Tekla Structures now compares the pop-marks of studs and takes the differences into account in numbering.

Numbering log files

Numbering log files now contain information about the amount of objects to number and the duration of different numbering steps.

Default pour type

When you create or copy a cast-in-place concretecast unit type where the concrete is formed, poured, and cured in its final position

Visualization of parts

In Tekla Structures 20.1, the visualization of cast-in-place concrete parts and continuous concrete structures has been improved. Part faces no longer disappear from model views when you hide a part that has common faces with other parts in a concrete structure, or when the part is outside the view depththickness of a slice of the model defined starting from, and perpendicular to, the view plane

Separate model welds and weld marks

  • Welds and weld marks are now separate entities in drawings. You can adjust model weld object propertiesproperties associated with an object type

    Usually a single object property includes a default value that the user can modify.

    separately from the weld markmark that includes a set of selected property elements related to a weld

    properties in general arrangement, assembly and single-part drawings, and in the single part views in assembly drawings. You can adjust the weld line color and type, the line width is fixed. The line color affects both visible and hidden lines, whereas the line type affects only visible lines.

  • The Weld button in the drawing and view properties dialog box opens the Welding Properties dialog box, and the Weld Mark button the Welding Mark Properties dialog box.

    The image below shows the weld mark and the weld mark properties on the left, the weld in red in the middle, and the weld properties on the right.

Snapping to welds

You can now snap to the weld seam. You can, for example, use the manual dimension tools and get the length of the weld by snapping to weld seam end points. Dimension lines are not associative to weld objects.

Welds and weld marks in single-part drawings

Model welds and weld marks are now available also in single-part drawings. It is important to see the weld preparationcut that is made on the part edge in order to enable a more complete weld penetration which provides a stronger joint

and weld information in manufacturing and checking.

Weld and weld mark selection switches in drawings

If you need to select only the welds, use the Select drawing welds selection switchswitch used for controlling which object types can be selected

. Previously this switch selected only the weld marks in drawings. When you now want to select the weld marks, use the Select drawing marks selection switch.

Improvements in view-level dimensioning


Improvements in view-level dimensioning

More robust shape, hole and recess dimensions

The logic and functionality of shape dimensions, holesmall hollow open throughout a part or assembly that is usually used for fastening parts with bolts or other such objects

Hole is created in the same way as bolts and hole properties are defined in the bolt properties.

dimensions and recess dimensions in view-level dimensioning is now more generic, reliable and predictable. The definition, which geometry is shape, hole or recess is now done only once for the object to be dimensioned, and that definition is used in all drawing views. The definition of shape and hole is done by looking at the shadow of an object in three directions: x, y and z. Points along the outer edge of the shadow will be dimensioned as a shape. Inner loops in the shadow will be dimensioned as holes. All other geometry points that are not visible in the shadow, will be dimensioned as recesses.

In the image below there are some examples of each geometry type:

Holes are marked with number 1, recesses with number 2 and shape with number 3.

Earlier, definition of shape, hole and recess was done separately for each drawing viewview that includes selected model objects or an area in the model, that is represented in a drawing

A drawing view is a container for model and drawing objects.

A drawing can include several drawing views, which usually are two-dimensional views, plane views, to the model.

Examples of drawing views in Tekla Structures include main views, section views, single-part views, and 3D views.

. This made it more difficult to set up the dimensioning rules, as the same geometry was treated differently depending on the view.

The new method will produce different results, which may require adjustment of the dimensioning rule combination of some drawing views. The rules are not affected, so existing rule files can be used.

Buttons in the Dimensioning Properties dialog box

When view-level dimensioning is in use, the Dimensioning Properties dialog box now has only one button at the bottom: Close. The other buttons ( OK , Apply , Modify , Get , Cancel ) were removed because they were not needed in the dimensioning workflow. In this dialog box you need to save your dimensioning settings using the Save or Save as buttons, and then you can close the dialog box with Close. When the view-level dimensioning is not in use, the dialog box still has the old buttons.

New date format

The Value Field Properties dialog box in Template Editortool in Tekla Structures that is used for creating and modifying templates to be used in drawings and reports

now contains a new date format: mm.dd.yyyy.

Report names

When you print reports to PDF using third-party PDF creators, the file name is now based on the name of the report. Previously, the name was always Tekla Structures report.pdf.

Property values for deformed main parts

For assemblies with deformed main parts, both the Inquire dialog box and Organizertool that is used for categorizing and managing model information, object properties and object property queries, and model object classification

Organizer consists of two tools, object browser and categories.

Holes and recesses in reports and templates

Now it is possible to create a report or a template listing all the holes and recesses, or the part that is removed as a result of a cut. ANTIMATERIAL was added as a new content typedetermination of which template attributes can be used in the template object value fields for a template component row

Content types are mainly based on object types.

. Holes and recesses are always attached to a part, just like bolts and reinforcement bars.

In Template Editor, the same attributes that are available for PART are available for ANTIMATERIAL. However, only the attributes that are useful to be used with ANTIMATERIAL are shown, including NAME , LENGTH , WIDTH , HEIGHT , AREA , PROFILE and NUMBER , and user-defined attributes.

The objects created with the commands Cut Part > With Polygon and Cut Part > With Another Part are included in reports.

Reports consider the holes and recesses as a whole, not just the portion that is cutting the part.

In the example below, a column is cut.

A report is created.

There are identical columns in the example below with same amount of material cut away. The only difference is the length of the cutting partbuilding object that creates a part-shaped hollow

: on the left the cutting part is wider than the column, and on the right it is exactly as wide as the column. The report shows different areas for each, 2.8 m 2 for the left column and 2.3 m 2 for the right one. The size of the cutting part (rather than the size of the actual cut) affects the values shown in reports.

Pour object attributes

The TOP_LEVEL attribute now reports the local (work planeplane that the user has chosen in a model and that is currently active for working on in a model view

Reference model hierarchy enhancements

Now the reference models have same kind of a hierarchy as the Tekla Structures native model objects. It is possible to select several hierarchy levels, like building or storey, and view their native attributes and properties, and view and modify their properties added in Tekla Structures.

  • To scroll the hierarchy, switch on the Select assemblies selection switchswitch used for controlling which object types can be selected

    , point the reference modelmodel which the designer can use as an aid when building another model

    A reference model is created in Tekla Structures or in other software and can be inserted to Tekla Structures. The reference model appears together with the model but it is not modified by Tekla Structures. The user can snap to reference model points.

    For example, an architectural model, a plant design model, or a heating, ventilating, and air-conditioning (HVAC) model can be a reference model.

    , hold down Shift and scroll with the middle mouse button. Tekla Structures highlights the current hierarchy level while you scroll. You can see the hierarchy level number change at the bottom of the Tekla Structures main screen. The name of the hierarchy level is displayed on the status bar.

    In Tekla Structures, grids are used as an aid in locating objects in a model. The grid is shown on the view plane by dash-and-dot lines. It is also possible to show grids and grid line labels in drawings, and to modify grid properties in the drawings.

    It is possible to have more than one grid in a model. For example, a large-scale grid for the entire structure, and smaller grids for some detailed sections.

  • To inquire native reference object attributes and properties, scroll to the correct hierarchy level, click the object, right-click and select Inquire.
  • To view and modify Tekla Structures properties of the reference object, scroll to the correct hierarchy level and double-click the reference object. You can also add new properties.

Below you can see one of the reference objects on the 3 level, IfcBuildingStorey, of the same reference model.

The last level, level 4, shows the individual parts.

In the example below, one of the reference objects on the last level has been inquired.

Button name change: Refresh all changed to Refresh modified

The name of the refresh button has changed from Refresh all to Refresh modified in the Reference Models dialog box. The new name is more informative, because Tekla Structures does not refresh all reference models, just those that have been modified.

Reference models are now are available in cast unit and assembly drawingdrawing that shows fabrication information for a basic or a nested assembly, including bolts and welds, and that is generally used at the workshop

Assembly drawings show how parts are located in an assembly. They contain the parts of the assembly presented in one or more views.

The Advanced tab in the Export to IFC dialog box has a new option Export flat and wide beams as plates. Select this option if you have modeled plates as beams with flat profiles.

IFC2x3 certificates

The import and export of IFCfile format commonly used in BIM that facilitates software interoperability

IFC is an open specification developed by the IAI (International Alliance for Interoperability).

Model can be exported into an IFC file.

files in Tekla Structures conform to the IFC2x3 Coordination View Version 2.0, and the IFC2x3 import and export certificates have been granted.

Detailed components in the Cast in Place configuration

Previously, it was not possible to modify detailed components in the Cast in Place configuration. Now when you modify a detailed component in the Cast in Place configuration, the component changes to a conceptual component.

Two sided shear plate (118)

You can now control the width of the shear tabcomponent object that represents a plate welded to the component main part and bolted to the web of the component secondary part

by defining the bolt edge distance on the Bolts tab.

Stanchion curved (84)

You can now separately define the Pos_no , Material and Name for the curved part and the horizontal part on the Parts tab. On the Parameters tab, you can select the Method of construction and define the Fabricator name. You can also create a zinc holesmall hollow open throughout a part or assembly that is usually used for fastening parts with bolts or other such objects

Hole is created in the same way as bolts and hole properties are defined in the bolt properties.

Hollow Core Opening Tool has been changed so that as an alternative for picking the slabplate that represents a concrete structure

In Tekla Structures, a slab is created by picking three or more points.

Slab may be part of a floor, for example.

you can also pick a floor component containing slabs. The tool will create the opening to the slab or slabs of the component when the position point is on the slab area.

You can also move the point inside the floor area. The opening is created to the slabs which are overlapping with the point.

Turning part marks and notes upside down

The advanced option XS_UPSIDE_DOWN_TEXT_ALLOWED ( Tools > Options > Advanced Options > Concrete Detailing ) now has two more options in addition to TRUE and FALSE:

  • TRUE: marks and notes are always upside down if the rotation of marked object calls for upside down marking

  • FALSE or empty: marks and notes are never upside down

  • CONCRETE: only concrete marks and notes are upside down

  • STEEL: only steel marks and notes are upside down
  • TIMBER: only timber marks and notes are upside down

You can also use combinations of values separated by a comma, for example CONCRETE,STEEL.

AK and IK block radius signs

There are two new advanced optionssettings used to customize Tekla Structures for specific companies, standards, users, or user groups

In Tekla Structures, advanced options are settings that are used, for example, in a specific project or geographical area, or by a specific company.

In Tekla Structures, advanced options usually begin with the initials XS and are followed by the name of the function, for example XS_BACKGROUND_COLOR.

XS_DSTV_CHANGE_AK_BLOCK_RADIUS_SIGN and XS_DSTV_CHANGE_IK_BLOCK_RADIUS_SIGN that change the AK or IK block curve radius signs for top and back faces. These advanced options are model-specific and they can be found on the CNC page in the Advanced Options dialog box. The default value for both options is FALSE.

Reinforcing bar clash check

The advanced option XS_REBAR_CLASH_CHECK_BENDING_TOLERANCE has been removed. Reinforcing barreinforcement that represents a steel bar used to reinforce a concrete structure

The steel bars are usually ribbed and they are used to increase the tensile strength of concrete.

clash checking is still performed, but this advanced option no longer has any effect.

Reinforcing locked parts

If you need to create, modify, or delete reinforcement in parts that have been locked, you can do it by setting the advanced option XS_ALLOW_REINFORCING_LOCKED_PARTS to TRUE in an initialization filetext file that contains user interface definitions, start-up parameters, default settings, or advanced options

Initialization files are used when starting Tekla Structures and they can contain system-specific and user-specific advanced options that are used to configure Tekla Structures for different standards and the user’s individual style of working.

Initialization files have the extension .ini.

(.ini). This is useful, for example, when different parties of a project are responsible for modeling concrete parts and for modeling reinforcement, and when modification of parts needs to be prevented.

In Tekla Structures, grids are used as an aid in locating objects in a model. The grid is shown on the view plane by dash-and-dot lines. It is also possible to show grids and grid line labels in drawings, and to modify grid properties in the drawings.

It is possible to have more than one grid in a model. For example, a large-scale grid for the entire structure, and smaller grids for some detailed sections.

It is now possible to create cranked reinforcing bars at the top of the column using the Round column reinforcement (82) and Rectangular column reinforcement (83) modeling tools. To successfully create the cranked reinforcing bars, ensure that the bending radius is not too large.

  • In Round column reinforcement (82) you can create cranked reinforcing bars by entering the horizontal distance dimension for the bars.

  • In Rectangular column reinforcement (83) there is a new option for cranked reinforcing bars in the Corner bar direction option list on the Main bars tab.

    When you select this option you can enter the dimensions for the cranked bars.

Now the presentation of reinforcing meshes is correct when you first use the Adjust location command and then change the visibility of the longitudinal bars.

Sometimes, when the Adjust location command was used for reinforcement mesh in drawing, the reinforcing bars were shown far away from the correct location while dragging. This has now been fixed.

94093 Drawings Now it is again possible to drag DWGs and links in drawings.
96292 Drawings The performance of view-level dimensioning has improved significantly.
97431 Drawings When you used a dimensioning rule in view-level dimensioning, some assembly components were not dimensioned during drawing creation. This has been fixed and the components are now taken into account.
97935 Drawings After you created several section views, moved them to another drawing, and then changed the section marks in the original drawing, some of the view labels were not updated correctly according to the changed marks in the original drawing. This has now been fixed.
98447 Drawings Tekla Structures was not able to create an assembly drawing for a complicated welded assembly. Now this is possible even if there are circular welding hierarchies in the assembly.
98514 Drawings Subassembly main and secondary part mark and surface treatment mark contents were empty in copied drawing views. This has now been fixed.
98547 Drawings It was not possible to snap to the polybeam reference line end points. This has now been fixed, and the snapping is possible.

100275 Drawings Level mark associativity did not work if the mark was placed between end points, not in corner or in center point of a line. This has now been fixed.
100282 Drawings Merged reinforcing bar marks cannot be modified using the dialog box of a single mark dialog and vice versa.
100344 Drawings Part cuts no longer disappear from a part when the drawing view does not show the whole part.
100584 Drawings When you tried to modify weld mark font in drawing properties dialog boxes, weld marks remained the same. This has now been fixed, and when you change the value, and click Modify , the weld mark font changes.
100787 Drawings If an assembly drawing was created with neighbor parts, the neighbor parts that were later added to the assembly were not correctly updated to normal parts in the drawing. This has now been fixed.
100906 Drawings Sometimes an assembly drawing could not be created if the XS_DO_NOT_CREATE_ASSEMBLY_DRAWINGS_FOR_LOOSE_PARTS advanced option was set to TRUE , even if there were several parts in the assembly. This has now been fixed.
101294 Drawings Changing Cast unit definition method of a cast unit drawing did not work correctly. If the property was changed right after the drawing was created, it did not work and sometimes an application error occurred. This has now been fixed.
101209 Drawings Now when you create a view in a drawing, Tekla Structures tries to use view object level settings for all drawing objects first, and if there are no settings available, it then uses drawing object level settings.
101397 Drawings Exporting drawings to dwg/dxf using the Use paper space option worked correctly only if there was one view in the drawing. If there were several views, the content of the additional views was exported to layer 0. This has now been fixed.
101498 Drawings The Print Drawings and Export commands are now available in the Drawing List pop-up menu in the Project Viewer configuration.

102362 Drawings A general arrangement drawing had links to an assembly drawing. If you modified the assembly drawing and the general arrangement drawing was updated, the dimensions disappeared from some of the linked views. This has now been fixed
102408 Drawings Slot length was displayed in bolt marks even if there were no slots visible in the drawing view. This has been fixed, and the report properties LONGHOLE_X and LONGHOLE_Y now return value 0.0 instead of the user set value if the bolt does not contain any slotted holes.
102737 Drawings In the drawing there were bolts with associative notes, and texts that were not associated to any parts. When you set the bolts invisible, Tekla Structures deleted the associative notes but also some of the texts. This has now been fixed.
102902 Drawings In some cases, setting the bolt marks visible from the drawing view properties dialog box caused a Tekla Structures application error. This has now been fixed.
103848 Drawings When loading view attributes, neighbor part filter attributes are now updated properly from the loaded attributes also when the neighbour part filter dialog is not open.

Tekla Warehouse

Tekla Warehouse is a content sharing solution. You need Tekla Structures 20.1 SR1 including the Tekla Warehouse Service to benefit from all the features Tekla Warehouse offers, for example easy installation into the model.

Tekla Warehouse is currently in the Beta phase and is primarily meant for content producers at this time.

103116 Modeling Bolt groups created through Open API or using plugins did not show handle points in Tekla Structures 20.0 and newer versions. This will not happen anymore for new bolt groups. If a model contains old incorrectly created bolt groups, you can fix them using the diagnose & repair model functionality.
104071 Modeling The cross section variable information in the Profile Editor is now checked and refreshed correctly.
104142 Modeling Bolts were not moved correctly when selecting handle points in Tekla Structures 20.0 and newer versions. This has now been fixed.
104179 Modeling Previously, a critical error message was shown when you deleted a point handle of a part cut or a point handle of a reinforcing bar group. This has now been fixed. The message is not shown anymore.
104921 Modeling When Tekla Structures shows concrete structures as continuous, the structures with only one part and multiple parts now have the same color when you used the Shaded Wireframe representation option for parts.
83763 Drawings Previously some of the part marks were upside down even though the parts were symmetrical. This has now been fixed, and part marks are correctly oriented.
103467, 104609 Drawings Modifying a drawing view updated marks even if the user did not change anything in the view properties. This has now been fixed.
103596 Drawings

There are usually two section marks for one section view. It was possible to drag the right mark to the left side of the left mark. This has now been fixed, and the right mark can no longer be dragged incorrectly.

104745 Drawings In some cases, some reference objects of reference models were missing from drawings. This has now been fixed.
104875 Drawings If the cloned part was higher than the original part, the Expand shortened parts to fit command did not work correctly in cloning. This has now been fixed.
105208 Drawings The view level filtering properties were saved in the file indicated in the Save as box in the view properties dialog box even though the Save button was clicked. This has been fixed so that whenever you click Save , the filtering settings are saved to a file indicated in the Save box.

When using view-specific dimensioning ( XS_USE_VIEW_LEVEL_SETTINGS_IN_DRAWING_CREATION=TRUE ):

  • Rotating views caused some dimensions to be created incorrectly. This has now been fixed.
  • When you converted old drawing attribute files, drawing level filters were not converted to view level filters. This has now been fixed.
  • After a section view was moved along its Z axis, modifying the section view dimensioning could lead to losing all dimensions. This has now been fixed.
106043 Drawings Dimensions were incorrect in a pull-out picture of a reinforcing bar mesh that was not a bent mesh. This has now been fixed.
106116 Drawings Snapping to the extension line intersection did not work correctly in drawings. In some cases, it caused an application error. This has now been fixed.
103480 Templates and Reports The calculation of the custom report field CUSTOM.WALL_OPENINGS_N has been changed so that the tiny openings which appear only due some numerical inaccuracy are not counted as individual openings.
103629 Templates and Reports The attributes starting with DRAWING now work in drawing templates. For example, if you use the attribute DRAWING.USERDEFINED.DR_LANGUAGE it gives the value of the attribute DR_LANGUAGE.
106493 Templates and Reports If template that contains rotated text was added to a part mark, it got an incorrect frame. This has now been fixed.

106366 Tools and Components In Stiffened end plate (27) and Partial stiff end plate (65) , there is now an option on the Parts tab to select that the shear plate is created in full width so that there is no gap between the plate and the beam web. When you select this option, the rounding value in XS_STANDARD_STIFFENER_WIDTH_TOLERANCE is not used.
106770 Tools and Components Using Clip angle (141) welded on a column automatically creates a cope on the bottom flange. Previously, adding a flange cut reduced the cope but did not remove the entire bottom flange. This has now been fixed. The entire bottom flange is now removed.

Tekla Warehouse

Tekla Warehouse is a content sharing solution. You need Tekla Structures 20.1.1 including the Tekla Warehouse Service to benefit from all the features Tekla Warehouse offers, for example easy installation into the model.

Tekla Warehouse is currently in the Beta phase and is primarily meant for content producers at this time.

Tekla Warehouse can be accessed from https://warehouse.tekla.com/. If you are offline, you can access your local content from http://localhost:8092/.

Now these advanced options no longer need Tekla Structures restart.
103867 Drawings The user-defined bolt symbol table could not find the correct symbol for all bolt sizes that were defined in the table. This has now been fixed.

In the Gantt chart, you can now extend and shorten the tasks that have the Fixed start and end scheduling mode. You can also shorten and extend tasks in the task list or modify the Planned end date and Planned length of a task on the Scheduling tab in the Task information dialog box.

108417 Drawings Views were incorrectly placed in an assembly drawing if the part was a column and you had chosen model orientation for the views. This has now been fixed.
107092 Templates and Reports Now the actual length of the above line weld (WELD_ACTUAL_LENGTH1) reports 0 if the above line weld size is 0 (WELD_SIZE1).
108534 Templates and Reports The LENGTH attribute did not give any value for antimaterials in templates or reports. This has now been fixed.
107871 Import, Export, Interoperability When creating contour marks for NC files, site welded parts were also considered for the creation of contours. When site welded contours were not needed, this created unnecessary contours which could be confusing on the shop floor, and also caused otherwise identical parts to receive different marks. In Contour marking settings, you can now select whether to create contour marks for parts which are site welded by setting Mark parts welded on site to Yes or No.
108475 Import, Export, Interoperability Using CUSTOM.* properties in IFC property sets no longer causes parts to get exported into incorrect locations in IFC.
109051 Import, Export, Interoperability Sometimes Tekla Structures did not finish exporting drawings to DWG. This has now been fixed.

109812 Import, Export, Interoperability BVBS export has been changed so that bars that have bendings with two or more variable radius values are exported fully conforming with the BVBS specification.

Earlier the BVBS export has been writing the specific/larger radius ( r### ) bending and the leg length value ( l### ) combined into one bending operation. The most recent rendition of the BVBS specification says that radius element and leg elements are to be written separately and should never appear combined.

If this new interpretation of the BVBS standard causes compatibility issues within your own environment and other tools using the BVBS files, you can still go back to the older way of exporting by setting the advanced option XS_BVBS_EXPORT_ARC_COMPATIBLE_TO_OLDER_METHOD to TRUE.

59292 Tools and Components In End plate (101) , the bottom notch control now works correctly.

All these properties are calculated based on the mesh wires considering all cuts. Net length is always the longer dimension of the mesh and net width is the shorter. Net size is always expressed based on net length and net width including the text for sizes/spacings.

105197 Drawings If you now add a new section or detail view in a drawing and you have set Use detailed object level settings to No on the view level, then the detailed object level settings are used from drawing level. Previously, view-level settings were still used even if the option was set to No.
106473 Drawings In some cases, when you used the mouse wheel to scroll on a model or drawing window border, Tekla Structures stopped working. This has now been fixed.

109812 Import, Export and Interoperability BVBS export has been changed so that bars that have bendings with two or more variable radius values are exported fully conforming with the BVBS specification.

Earlier the BVBS export has been writing the specific/larger radius ®###) bending and the leg length value (l###) combined into one bending operation. The most recent rendition of the BVBS specification says that radius element and leg elements are to be written separately and should never appear combined.

If this new interpretation of the BVSB standard causes compatibility issues within your own environment and other tools using the BVBS files, you can still go back to the older way of exporting by setting the advanced option XS_BVBS_EXPORT_ARC_COMPATIBLE_TO_OLDER_METHOD to TRUE.

110776 Import, Export and Interoperability BVBS export has been changed to fully support exporting of special bent meshes with cuts.

In addition, the mesh length and width values in the header are now equal to the real width/length of the mesh.

111114 Import, Export and Interoperability Spiral reinforcing bars are now exported correctly in BVBS export.

  • Either of the parts uses the physical part reference line as the analysis axis (the Reference axis option).
  • The analysis axes of the parts intersect.

Also, when Connectivity is set to Manual for an analysis part, the tolerance for finding parts to be connected has now been increased.

81719 Import, Export, Interoperability NC export no longer exports parts attached to each other ( Added Material > Attach to Part ), which decreases the number of unnecessary NC files.

Drawings You can now create the following dimension lines using the Create dimension line command:
  • Curved orthogonal dimensions to tapered curved rebar groups

  • Curved dimensions to radial rebar groups.

To get these dimensions, you need to go to Tools > Options > Drawing dimensions and set the Tapered curved reinforcement group option to curved.

Tags and marks are only working for curved orthogonal dimensions, not for the curved radial ones.

124010 Tools and Components In Layout manager , some objects were sometimes shown multiple times in a group. This has now been fixed so that when you open Layout manager , it removes the duplicate objects from groups.
