Create a thumbnail image of a model

You can add a thumbnail image to make it easier to recognize your project even when you do not remember the exact name of the model. The thumbnail image is displayed when you browse for existing models.

  1. On the View tab, clickScreenshot > Project thumbnail.
  2. Select a view.

    Tekla Structures creates the image and saves it in the model folderfolder that is used for storing files associated with a model

    Tekla Structures stores all files associated with a model in a folder it creates with the same name as the model database (.db1).

    In multi-user mode all users access the same model folder.

  3. To check the thumbnail, go to the File menu, click Open , and select the model you created the thumbnail for in the Recent or in the All models list.

    The image is now displayed with other model informationinformation stored to the model

    Model information covers, for example, model objects, and drawing and project information.

  4. If you are unhappy with the thumbnail image, you can repeat steps 1–2 as many times as you need.

    For example, you can zoom the model in and out to adjust what is shown in the thumbnail image. When you create a new thumbnail, Tekla Structures overrides the existing thumbnail image with the new one.


Alternatively, if you want to use a custom image, you can add the image directly to the model folder with the name thumbnail.png. The preferred size of the image is 120 x 74 pixels.
