Improvements in Template Editor 3.7
Template Editortool in Tekla Structures used for creating and modifying templates to be used in drawings and reports
3.7 contains several improvements that focus on direct editing and presentation of reports/templates.
Graphical object size, length, radius, and angle shown
The size, length, radius, and angle of graphical objects is now shown real time on the status bar.
Aspect ratio kept when objects resized
When you drag a corner handle to resize a rectangle-shaped object (rectangles, images, symbols), and at the same time hold down the Shift key, the aspect ratio of the resized object is now kept.
Now the Edit > Find command ( Ctrl+F ) also searches inside rules in a row and in value fields. If a match is found, the value field is selected from the template. If you continue with the Find command, the next matching value field is selected.
Select objects or rows/components
Only objects inside rows/components are selected when you use area selectionmethod of selecting objects that are included in a certain rectangular area of a model
In addition to the selected area, selection switches and selection filters control which object types are selected.
. To select a row/component either select it from the content browser, or directly select its border in the template.
Vertical dynamic row alignment
Vertical dynamic rows are now correctly aligned in templates.
Snapping to other graphical objects when resizing
When graphical objects are resized, they now snap to the handle points of the other graphical objects and to the object intersections.
Starting Template Editor
If you start Template Editor outside of Tekla Structures, it now uses the same StartTemplateEditor.exe environment setting file as when started from inside Tekla Structures.
The new format painter works mostly as in other software: First pick the source object, then activate the format painter from the toolbar, and then pick the destination object. Double-clicking puts the format painter in a mode where you can pick several destination objects. Single-click enables just one destination pick or area selection. Copying happens only among same type of objects. If there are several object types and you use area selection, copying is only applied to objects of the same type, and only layout properties are copied. For symbols, line type, color and fill type, use the same icon that is used in Tekla Structures property pane and contextual toolbarfloating toolbar that contains commands for modifying the most common object properties
The user can customize the contextual toolbar.
The term mini toolbar is used in Tekla Structures until version 21.1.
Trim or extend lines
Lines can be trimmed (cut) and extended to a selected line:
1) First select a line where to extend to or trim to.
2) Click the Trim or Extend button on the toolbar.
3) Then select the lines to be trimmed or extended.
Trimming and extending also support both continuous action and selecting multiple lines to extend or trim.
Note that this functionality only covers line objects.
