Improvements in components

There are several improvements in concrete components and steel components in Tekla Structures 2018i.

Concrete components

Wall layout

  • In Wall layout , when creating openings, you can now select the layer that is cut from a list in the contextual toolbar. The default option is All layers that creates the opening to all layers. Note that you can still change the creation (Create/Do not create) of the opening for each layer as before.

This makes it easier to model different layer geometries to walls with multiple layers.

  • The Wall layout contextual toolbar now has a new button for inserting circular openings. Pick the center point and the radius point for the circle to add the opening. You can modify the circular opening by dragging the handles, and copy it by holding down the Ctrl key. You can delete the opening with the Delete key.

When changing the layer and edge specific offsets, you can set a single offset for the circular opening. You can modify the cut creation (at the selected layer) similar to other openings by selecting the opening (face) handle and setting the creation option value in the contextual toolbar.

The circular openings enable the fast creation of HVAC reservations.

  • Wall layout opening has been changed so that it is possible to define the cut part name and a class for the cut part. In addition, there is a new option (No/Yes) to create a filler part (contour plate) with given saved contour plate properties. All these new opening properties are layer-specific and can be set at each layer.

To modify the Wall layout opening properties, select the opening, right-click and select Properties , or use the contextual toolbar.

This enables easy data export to production by using the cut out or filler as an embed. You can report openings, and show opening elevations and different drawing representations.

  • Wall layout opening has been changed so that now the list of detailing options in the contextual toolbar may contain multiple options.

You can create the new options using the new Component name option in the Wall layout opening dialog box. With the Edit and New buttons, you can edit the existing detailing option or add new options. The settings that you edit or add are stored in external files under the model. These files can also be placed to any system folder from where they are loaded automatically.

This enables the creation of special opening details and the utilization of Wall layout for easy opening modeling. Use custom openings, for example, in opening formwork shop drawings.

  • Wall layout elementation now has a new option for Max height , and separate options for Vertical seam settings and Horizontal seam settings. If the Max height value you enter is smaller than the height of the wall, Wall layout elementation will first create the horizontal seams with the given height and settings. After that it creates the vertical seams using the Vertical seam settings and all other settings in the dialog box.

Detailing manager

You can now have 25 rule tabs in Detailing manager.

There are several improvements in rule tab handling. Double-click a rule tab to:

  • Rename the rule tab. Previously, you right-clicked the tab to rename it.
  • Clear the information on the tab.
  • Remove all other tabs than the selected tab.
  • Remove all tabs, including the first tab. Detailing manager adds a new empty first tab.

Hollow core lifting loops

The following improvements have been made:

  • You can now move individual lifters in the x and y direction by using direct modification. You can also change the lifter type from the contextual toolbar.
  • On the Basic settings tab, you can now define the channel numbers at all channels or at the second channel.
  • You can now define the following new options in the configuration file: MainPartProfile , ChannelOptions , RecessName: cutpartname , and GroutingProfile.

Rebar coupler and anchor tools

Rebar coupler and end anchor components have been changed so that they set the phase of the coupler/end anchor to be the same as the phase of the related primary reinforcing bar.

Note that if you change the phase of the coupler/end anchor manually afterwards, this manual change will be overridden whenever the coupler/end anchor component gets updated.

Hole generation macro (32)

You can now place the opening by the opening center point.

Corbels and recesses (82)

You can now select the coordinate system of the component on the Part 1 tab.

Round column reinforcement (82)

You can now create cranked reinforcing bars both at the top and at the bottom of the column. Enter the horizontal, vertical and sloped distance dimensions on the Main bars tab.

Starter bars for pillar (86)

On the Picture tab, you can now bend the top of the longitudinal rebars.

Concrete console (110), Concrete console (111), Concrete beam-beam (112)

You can now define whether cuts are created around tubes by using the Create cuts around tubes option.

In Concrete console (110) , you can do this on the Connection tab. In Concrete console (111) and in Concrete beam-beam (112) , you can do this on the Anchors tab.

Concrete console (110)

On the Parameters tab, you can now create a column cut-out for a T-shaped secondary part.

Concrete beam-beam (112)

The Parameters tab has been removed. The Fit secondaries perpendicular option has been moved to the Picture tab, and Anchors only in secondary to the Anchors tab.

Precast foundation block (1028)

You can now set the cast unit type to either precast or cast in place on the Picture tab.

Concrete foundation (1030)

On the Parts tab, you can now define that the reinforcing bars belong to a neighbor part, and use the name or class to find the neighbor part.

Steel components

Shear Pl simple (35)

On the Copes tab, you can now create round corners for cope cuts.

Shear Pl to tube column (47)

On the Bolts tab, you can now define the Bolt standard and Thread in mat for a second set of bolts.

Gusseted cross (62)

  • You can now define slotted holes for Brace bolts 2 and Brace bolts 3.
  • You can now set separate bolt spacings for the gusset side and the bracing side on the Brace bolts 1-3 tabs.

Stairs (S71), Wooden steps pan (S72), Polybeam pan (S73), Z pan (S74)

You can now define different profiles for the left and the right stringer.

U.S. Seat connection 3 (74)

On the Parts tab, you can now define the stiffener name, and the seat profile material and name.

Railings (S77)

On the Parameters tab, the Top rail to stanchion fitting , Other rail to stanchion fitting and Create assembly options are now shown as images.

Clip angle (116)

On the Parts tab, you can now define the Finish property for the L profile.

Two sided clip angle (117)

  • On the Parts tab, you can now define the Finish property for the L profiles.
  • On the Parts tab, you can now define the assembly position number.

Two sided clip angle (143)

You can now define the basic bolt properties for the first and the second secondary part on the new Bolt settings tab. On the Bolts tab, you can define the bolt group dimensions.

Seat det type 1 (1033)

You can now define horizontal welds for the seat profile.

U.S. Base plate (1047)

You can now select the chamfer type for stiffeners on the Picture tab.
