Improvements in analysis and design

Tekla Structures 2018i comes with important improvements in analysis modelstructural model that is created from a physical model and used on the one hand for analyzing structural behavior and load bearing, and on the other hand for design

Analysis model can be viewed in Tekla Structures in a model view.

Analysis model that is made with Tekla Structures can be worked on in other analysis and design software or application.

Visualization improvements

When you move the mouse pointer over analysis parts, each analysis partanalysis model object that is a representation of a physical part in an analysis model

now indicate the status of the node more clearly. For example, the nodes that connect analysis parts are light aquamarine, the nodes that do not connect analysis parts are yellow, and the unconnected nodes are red.

The rigid links are now red.

Analysis model warnings improved

The error and warning messages related to analysis model creation have been improved. The messages now provide more detailed and clearly structured information. Also, new messages have been added.

In the analysis model warning list and log file, you can now select rows related to analysis parts, bars, and nodes, loads, positions, and physical parts to highlight and select the corresponding object in the model. Individual analysis members cannot be selected. Previously, you could only select physical parts.

More load groups

The maximum number of load groups in an analysis model and in the Load combinations dialog box has been increased from 50 to 99.

Other improvements and fixes

  • Curved beams are now exported correctly to Tekla Structural Designer. Select the Use curved member option for either of the following settings:
    • Curved beams on the Analysis model tab in the Analysis Model Properties dialog box
    • Curved beam mode on the Bar attributes tab in the Beam Analysis Properties dialog box
  • When you use Tekla Structural Designer as the analysis applicationpart of Tekla Structures functionality that is developed in order to extend the capability of Tekla Structures but that is not included in the Tekla Structures installation

    , the options in the Use rigid links list in the analysis model properties are now:
    • Enabled for concrete parts
    • Disabled for concrete parts, with keep axis: Default
    • Disabled for concrete parts, with keep axis: No

    The rigid links are automatically disabled for steel parts.
