Property pane for cut, chamfer, surface treatment, surface, and point properties

In Tekla Structures 2018i, you can now access the properties of cuts, chamfers, surface treatment, surfaces, and points in the property pane.

You can use the property pane to view and modify the properties of

You can still open the previously used object property dialog boxes using Quick Launch. If needed, you can customize the property pane for each object type separately, and select which properties you wish to see. If you are a company administrator, you can distribute the customized property panes to other users in the company.

Cut properties in the property pane

Note:

The cut properties are available in the property pane only after you have created and selected a cut. You cannot access or modify the cut properties before the cut is created. To open the cut properties in the property pane, double-click the selected cut.

Polygon cut

By default, the property pane contain the following Polygon cut properties: Name , Profile , Material , Class , and At depth.

  • The Material property ( ANTIMATERIAL ) is read-only, and you cannot modify it.
  • Previously, the Polygon cut command showed the cut properties in the Contour plate properties dialog box. The Contour plate properties dialog box also contained the Numbering series and Finish properties which are not available in the Polygon cut properties in the property pane. If you need the Numbering series and Finish information in Tekla Structures 2018i, you can customize the property pane layout for polygon cut and add the properties to the customized layout.

Part cut

  • Previously, the cutting part and the cut used the same part property dialog box. For example, if the cutting part was a steel beam, it used the properties in the Steel beam dialog box. Now the cutting part has its own properties in the property pane. For example, if the cutting part is a steel beam, it uses the Steel beam cut properties in the property pane.

  • Previously, when the cutting part and the cut used the same part property dialog box, the dialog boxes also contained the Numbering series and Finish properties which are not available in the part cut properties property pane. If you need the Numbering series and Finish information in Tekla Structures 2018i, you can customize the property pane layout for the selected part cut and add the properties to the customized layout.

The following part cut properties are available:

    • Steel beam cut
    • Steel column cut
    • Steel spiral beam cut
    • Steel item cut
    • Concrete beam cut
    • Concrete column cut
    • Concrete panel cut
    • Concrete slab cut
    • Concrete spiral beam cut
    • Bent plate cut
    • Pad footing cut
    • Strip footing cut
    • Concrete item cut

Chamfer properties in the property pane

The property pane for Corner chamfer and the property pane for Edge chamfer contain the same properties as the previously used dialog boxes.

Corner chamfer

To open the corner chamfer properties in the property pane, double-click the handle of a part corner.

Edge chamfer

To open the edge chamfer properties before the chamfer is created, in the property pane click the Object type list button and select Edge chamfer. Tekla Structures starts the command and shows the properties in the property pane.

If you modify the properties, Tekla Structures uses the modified properties the next time you create an edge chamfer.

Surface treatment properties in the property pane

The property pane for Surface treatment contains the same properties as the previously used surface treatment dialog box. In addition, now in the Pattern section, you can pick the color for mortar and tile using the color picker.

When you open the Surface treatment property pane, Tekla Structures shows the properties and starts the Surface treatment to part face command.

If you modify the properties, Tekla Structures uses the modified properties the next time you create a surface treatment.

Note that if you modify the pattern properties, you need to first click Modify in the property pane and then redraw the view to make the changes visible.

Surface properties in the property pane

The property pane for Surface contains the same properties as the previously used surface dialog box.

If you modify the properties, Tekla Structures uses the modified properties the next time you create a surface to a part face or to a pour object face.

Point properties in the property pane

By default, the property pane for Points contains the following point properties: Color and Location.

  • Previously, it was not possible to change the point color. In Tekla Structures 2018i, you can change the point color by selecting a new color in the Color list.

Note that the next time you create points, the points are created using the default color. No default color is shown in the property pane, and the changed point color is not applied in the next point creation.

  • You can now change the point location using the Location properties.
  • Previously, the Point information dialog box also contained the Phase and ID properties which are not available in the Point property pane. If you need the Phase and ID information in Tekla Structures 2018i, you can customize the property pane layout and add the properties to the customized layout. Note that the Phase and ID properties in the property pane are read-only, you cannot modify them.
  • If you need the point temporary ID, you can use the Inquire command to check the temporary ID in the Inquire object dialog box.
