Create a strip footing

  1. On the Concrete tab, click Footing > Strip footing.
  2. Pick the points you want the footing to go through.
  3. Click the middle mouse button.

    Tekla Structures creates the strip footingfooting that supports several points of contact or a region of points of contact

    Strip footing supports a length of wall or a line of closely spaced columns, for example.

    In Tekla Structures, strip footing has a polygon shape that the user defines by picking points.

    In Tekla Structures, properties related to an object type are activated in the property pane or the dialog box.


    Current properties are the properties that are shown in the property panecontrol element in Tekla Structures user interface in the form of a side pane window

    The property pane can be used to show and modify the properties of model objects.

    . If you modify the properties, the modified properties become the current properties, and Tekla Structures uses them the next time you create an object of this type.

  4. If you want to create curved segments, chamfer the corners of the footing.

    For example:


    Alternatively, you can start the command in the property pane.

    1. Ensure that you have nothing selected in the model.
    2. In the property pane, click the Object type list button and select Strip footing from the list.

      Tekla Structures starts the command and shows the properties in the property pane.

Modify strip footing properties

  1. If the property pane is not open, double-click the strip footing to open the Strip footing properties.
  2. Change the properties as needed.
  3. Click Modify to apply the changes.

    The modified properties become the new current properties. Tekla Structures uses the current properties the next time you create an object of this type.

Strip footing properties

Use the Strip footing properties to view and modify the properties of a strip footing. The file name extension of a pad footingfooting that supports a single point of contact

Pad footing usually supports one column.

Property files are saved in the current model folder. The user can copy property files to the project or firm folders for future use.

User-defined attributes can be stored as a property file.

Change the length of the strip footing by moving the footing end point along the footing's reference line.


Move the strip footing end perpendicular to the beam's reference line.


Move the strip footing in the z direction of the work plane.

Part prefix and start number for the part position number.

Cast unit

Indicate whether the strip footing is precast or cast-in-place.

Pour phase

Pour phase of the cast-in-place parts. Use to separate pour objects from one another.

Click the More button to open the user-defined attributes (UDAs) of the part. UDAs provide additional information about the part.
