2018 SP1: New features for Wall layout and Mesh bars components
Tekla Structures 2018 SP1 includes new features for Wall layout and Mesh bars components.
In Wall layout , when creating openings, you can now select the layer that is cut from a list in the contextual toolbarfloating toolbar that contains commands for modifying the most common object properties
The user can customize the contextual toolbar.
The term mini toolbar is used in Tekla Structures until version 21.1.
. The default option is All layers that creates the opening to all layers. Note that you can still change the creation (Create/Do not create) of the opening for each layer as before.
This makes it easier to model desired wallplate that represents a structure such as a wall or roof panel
In Tekla Structures, a panel is created by picking two or more points.
shapes to double walls and sandwich wall layers.
The Wall layout contextual toolbar now has a new button for inserting circular openings. Pick the center point and the radius point for the circle to add the opening. You can modify the circular opening by dragging the handles, and copy it by holding down the Ctrl key. You can delete the opening with the Delete key.
When changing the layer and edge specific offsets, you can set a single offset for the circular opening. You can modify the cut creation (at the selected layer) similar to other openings by selecting the opening (face) handle and setting the creation option value in the contextual toolbar.
The circular openings enable the fast creation of HVAC reservations.
Wall layout opening has been changed so that it is possible to define the cut part name and a classpart property that groups parts according to identifiers given by the user
The identifiers of classes are usually numbers. Classes can be used for defining the color of parts in the model, for example. Class does not influence the numbering of model objects.
for the cut part. In addition, there is a new option (No/Yes) to create a filler part ( contour platepart whose outline form the user defines by picking three or more points
The user can define the shape of the contour plate parallel to the work plane. The profile in use defines the thickness. The corners of the contour plate can be chamfered.
) with given saved contour plate(1) part that represents a flat structure
(1) In some contexts, for example in analysis, the term plate object may be used to refer to plates.
(2) plate that represents a steel structure
(2) Plate is mainly used as a connection piece or as a floor plate.
properties. All these new opening properties are layer-specific and can be set at each layer.
To modify the Wall layout opening properties, select the opening, right-click and select Properties , or use the contextual toolbar.
This enables easy data export to production by using cut out or filler as embedbuilding object that represents an object that is to be cast into a concrete structure and that is used to connect structures or as an aid when constructing a structure
For example, a cast-in socket is an embed that is placed in concrete structures to allow parts to be bolted together on site. In Tekla Structures, embeds are modeled as steel sub-assemblies that are inside a concrete nested assembly.
. You can report openings and show opening elevations and different drawing representations.
Wall layout opening has been changed so that now the list of detailing options in the contextual toolbar may contain multiple options.
You can create the new options using the new Component name option in the Wall layout opening dialog box. With the Edit and New buttons, you can edit the existing detailing option or add new options. The settings that you edit or add are stored in external files under the model. These files can be also placed to any system folderfolder that is used for storing files that define default settings
from where they are loaded automatically.
This enables the creation of special opening details and the utilization of Wall layout for easy opening modeling. Use custom openings, for example, in opening formwork shop drawing.
Wall layout elementation now has a new option for Max height , and separate options for Vertical seam settings and Horizontal seam settings. If the Max height value you enter is smaller than the height of the wall, Wall layout elementation will first create the horizontal seams with the given height and settings. After that it creates the vertical seams using the Vertical seam settings and all other settings in the dialog box.
In Mesh bars , you can now use direct modificationfunction that activates the mode where the model objects can be modified by using handles
Direct modification enables additional handles and modification options.
to move, copy and delete rebars.
Note that this works only with rebar groups, not with meshes.
This makes it easy to adjust rebars and to create additional rebars.
In Mesh bars , rebar groups now correctly use the defined gridmodeling aid that represents a three-dimensional complex of horizontal and vertical planes
In Tekla Structures, grids are used as an aid in locating objects in a model. The grid is shown on the view plane by dash-and-dot lines. It is also possible to show grids and grid line labels in drawings, and to modify grid properties in the drawings.
It is possible to have more than one grid in a model. For example, a large-scale grid for the entire structure, and smaller grids for some detailed sections.
size and minimum spacing.
This means that the location of rebars respect the grid which is often required by the welding machine.
