Tekla Structures 2017i comes with many improvements in reinforcement.
Rebar sets in curved structures
Rebar sets can now have three guidelines. This makes it easier to create rebar sets for curved concrete structures.
In curved beams, polybeams, strip footings, and wallplate that represents a structure such as a wall or roof panel
In Tekla Structures, a panel is created by picking two or more points.
In cast-in-place concrete the term wall refers to a concept similar to panel.
panels, Tekla Structures automatically creates three guidelines for longitudinal rebar sets. For crossing rebar sets, Tekla Structures creates a polyline guidelinedefinition of the distribution and direction of the reinforcing bars in rebar sets
The spacing of the reinforcing bars is measured along the rebar set guideline. The rebar set guideline can be a line, or a polyline that may have corner chamfers.
with three points, and the midpoint has theArc point chamfer.

Secondary guidelines of rebar sets improved
To easily create secondary guidelines for a selected rebar set, you can now use the new button on the contextual toolbarfloating toolbar that contains commands for modifying the most common object properties
The user can customize the contextual toolbar.
The term mini toolbar is used in Tekla Structures until version 21.1.
To define if a secondary guidelinerebar set guideline that can be used in addition to the rebar set primary guideline to modify the geometry, direction, and spacing of reinforcing bars in a rebar set
Rebar set secondary guidelines can be used to create curved reinforcing bars or to define a different spacing at the start and end of the rebar set reinforcing bars, for example.
inherits its spacing properties from the primary guidelinerebar set guideline that is created automatically when a rebar set is created
, select the secondary guideline and use thebutton on the contextual toolbar. Alternatively, you can set Inherit from primary to Yes or No in the secondary guideline properties in the property panecontrol element in Tekla Structures user interface in the form of a side pane window
The property pane can be used to show and modify the properties of model objects.
. By default, the secondary guidelines inherit the spacing properties from the primary guideline.
Rebar shape placing tool
Tekla Structures 2017i introduces a new tool for creating rebar sets. Rebar shape placing tool for rebar sets is similar to Reinforcing Bar Shape Catalog for reinforcing barreinforcement that represents a steel bar used to reinforce a concrete structure
The steel bars are usually ribbed and they are used to increase the tensile strength of concrete.
groups, with new useful functionality and improved usability.
Rebar shape placing tool is available on the Concrete tab, under Rebar set.
With Rebar shape placing tool you can reinforce both parts and pour objects using predefined bar shapes. The rebar sets you create may extend across single or multiple objects.
You can easily select cross sections or object faces that you want to reinforce, and then, using a preview and direct modificationfunction that activates the mode where the model objects can be modified by using handles
Direct modification enables additional handles and modification options.
, place rebar sets in the model.

Improvements in Rebar shape catalog
In Tekla Structures 2017i, the bar shape preview in the Reinforcing Bar Shape Catalog dialog box has been updated.
